Keranta on the Pressures of Being a Celebrity Couple

Being a celebrity is already a lot of pressure, but dating another celebrity adds another layer of complexity. Content creator Winnie Keranta knows this all too well.

Keranta, 21, has been dating popular online comedian Flaqo Raz aka Mama Otis for three years. They went public with their relationship in February 2023.

Keranta says that one of the biggest challenges of being a celebrity couple is the lack of privacy.

“Sometimes public freedom can be a challenge because doing normal fun stuff, that normal couples do, might end up on the blogs in a manner that wasn’t intended,” she said.

Another challenge is dealing with the constant scrutiny from fans and haters.

“There are those who are genuinely happy for us and the ‘mtaachana tu’ clique of haters,” Keranta said.

Despite the challenges, Keranta says that she and Flaqo are happy together and they are determined to ignore the negative energy.

“To the keyboard warriors, I say, keep charging your phone and typing like the warriors you are,” she said.

Keranta also shared her secret to a happy relationship: communication and trust.

“Make your partner your best friend before anything else,” she said. “Another thing, do not use other peoples relationship as a reference.”

Keranta has also had to deal with rumors about her personal life.

“There are a lot of rumors about me,” she said. “Some never reach me but I once heard people say that I was seeing a white mubaba.”

Keranta says that she ignores the rumors and focuses on her relationship with Flaqo.

“I am happy and my union is thriving,” she said.

Keranta is an inspiration to many young people who are looking to build successful careers in the entertainment industry. She is proof that it is possible to have a happy and fulfilling relationship while also being in the public eye.
