Shock As Kakamega Man Finds Out Wife Is Pregnant Despite Undergoing Vasectomy

Medgclay Salano and his wife Beryl Akinyi thought they had taken all the necessary precautions to prevent pregnancy after they had their third child. Medgclay had undergone a vasectomy, a surgical procedure that renders a man infertile by cutting or blocking the vas deferens, the tubes that carry sperm from the testicles to the penis.

Medgclay said he felt it was the right decision at the time since his wife had been on contraceptives for the longest time and he wanted to spare her the trouble. He underwent the procedure at a hospital in Navakholo on July 12, 2022. The doctor told him he would be safe after 20 ejaculations or after three months.

Vasectomy Not Always a Sure Thing

Up until October, Medgclay and Beryl were confident that they were safe from pregnancy. But in November, Beryl missed her period. Medgclay asked her if everything was okay, and she said she had an irregular cycle so all would be well.

However, a pregnancy test later confirmed that Beryl was indeed pregnant. The couple was shocked and confused. They had taken all the necessary precautions, so how could this have happened?

It turns out that vasectomies are not 100% effective. There is a small chance that sperm can still travel through the vas deferens even after the procedure has been performed. This is called a “vasectomy failure.”

The risk of a vasectomy failure is higher in the first few months after the procedure. It is also higher in men who are younger, have a history of sexually transmitted infections, or have had a vasectomy reversal.

If you are considering a vasectomy, it is important to be aware of the risks. You should talk to your doctor about the procedure and the potential side effects. You should also make sure that you are comfortable with the possibility of a pregnancy even after the procedure.

In the case of Medgclay and Beryl, they decided to continue with the pregnancy. They are now expecting their fourth child. They are grateful that the pregnancy was unplanned, but they are also excited to welcome a new addition to their family.
