The anticipated #maandamano protests have seen numerous people get tear-gased in the outskirts of Nairobi and Kisumu.
In effort to disperse demonstrators, police have reportedly shot a man. Witnesses on the scene claim that he was not a protester but rather, he was a mechanic at work.
For the better part of Monday morning, police officers pitched camp at different areas in Nairobi ahead of the expected protests
In Nairobi, security was beefed up in areas where protestors were expected to hit, alongside the CBD, State House, Supreme Court, Kibra, among other places.
