‘Release Him!’- Ayen Monica, KRG the Don Urge Police To Release Eric Omondi (Video)
Several videos of Eric Omondi’s arrest have made rounds on social media of how he was forcefully thrown into a police vehicle and taken to Central Police Station. The comedian was advocating for a law to be passed to ensure 75% of Kenyan music is played.
This was a decision he made after comparing laws of other countries like Tanzania and Nigeria which enable their music to do quite well Internationally.
Even though he didn’t receive much support from artists in his ‘march’ to parliament, Eric decided to do it all by himself, with a handful of youth in tow.
After a few hours of demonstration, Eric was arrested and driven to Central Police Station.
KRG To The Rescue
In a video posted by musician KRG the Don, he states that Eric should be released in less than 2 hours since he’s fighting for musicians.
”Eric Omondi ako town ameshikwa, anapigania wasanii. Sijaona ata msanii mmoja uko… Mimi naenda town sahi, niko kwa njia naenda town kupigania Eric Omondi. In less than 2 hours, lazima akue ameachiliwa. Hakuna venye Eric anaeza kuwa amewekwa cell na wasanii wenye anapigania wanaongea tu uko kwa mtandao…”
KRG is the only renowned artist who has arrived at Central Police Station.
Ayen’s Plea For Eric’s Release
South Sudanese model Ayen Monica has also come in defense of Eric Omondi. Through her Instagram, the wife material season 3 winner wrote;
”All I’m trying to say is Eric is trying to fight for the rights of all musicians yes his loud asf but he does make sense”
Ayen and Eric were not in good terms before today’s happenings, but she’s definitely in support of Eric’s release.
