KBC Set To Be Auctioned
KBC has been going through a rough patch for quite a while now -to the extent that it seems as though this is how things have always been. The national broadcasting station owes so much money to a Japanese corporation, it would be insensitive for me to repeat the amount… But you can read about all that here.
And as if that weren’t be enough to send the Managing director right off the bend, yet another creditor has come a knocking and they are baying for blood and are insisting on their pound of flesh.
KBC apparently owes monies to the Nairobi county council in land rates and Dr. Evans Kidero the Nairobi County Governor has demanded what he feels is owed him -900 million Kenya shillings.
Governor Evans Kidero, at a press briefing on Thursday, also said says nine other buildings in the city, including those owned by state corporations, will also auctioned.
Land buying companies in Ruai, Embakasi and Kasarani could also see their properties auctioned putting to risk thousands of owners who hold small pieces on allotment basis while the mother title is held by the company.
“Effective Monday, we will start registering our interest on all the pieces of land where rates remain outstanding. We will be selling an average of 10 properties per week,” said Governor Kidero.
