Jua Cali Addresses the Artistes Who Ran Away From Calif Records

Jua Cali was interviewed on Willy M. Tuva’s Mambo Mseto show on Citizen Radio show today where he spoke about his upcoming singles, albums and addressed the issue of the artistes who have been leaving Calif Records.

“Kama msanii ni professional, mtu anajua pahali anaenda, most of the time utapata huyo ni msanii mtulivu, hana pressure. Anakuja studio anamaliza ku-record, anapanga video yake. Kuna msanii anaangilia angalia nje sana, hayuko mtulivi, hao ndio hutoka. Calif tunataka professionalism. (If an artiste is not professional, knows what direction he wants with his/her music, they’re usually focused. They come to the studio, record and plan on their videos. There are non-focused artistes and those are the ones who leave. At Calif, we appreciate professionalism.”

The radio host asked what he thinks the real problem is and he responded, “Tatizo ni hawa wasanii si watulivu. Msanii ametulia ni Mejja. Anakuja studio ana-record na maisha inaendelea. Wengine three months hawajaonekana studio. Unampigia hata hujui mahali yuko. Kwa hivyo msanii kama huyo hata akienda ni sawa tu. (Problem is artistes are not focused like, say, Mejja. He comes to the studio, records, and life goes on. You don’t see some artistes in studio for three months and you don’t even know where they are when you call them. It’s better for an artiste like that to just leave.”

Artistes who have left Calif in the last couple of months include Qty, Kendi, Qtasi and just last week, Si-So, among others.
