Jaguar Saves the Day As He Negotiates With Dandora Dumpsite Gangs to Surrender Guns (PHOTOS)
We all know Jaguar as one of the most decorated celebs but also philanthropic in equal measure. However, most recently the ‘Kipepeo’ hit-maker added another feather to sombrero; that of an arbitrator.
Wednesday, national TVs aired the shocking story of how armed youth of Dandora and Korogocho exchanged fire when disagreement arose over the control of the sprawling Dandora dumpsite. The police were immediately put on high alert and ordered to bring the culprits to book.
And then something out of the ordinary happened. One of the boys involved in the shoot out called up Jaguar and begged him to speak to Nairobi Senator, Mike Sonko and tell him that they are ready to surrender their weapons on the promise that they won’t be victimized.
So Jaguar and Sonko organized a meeting with Nairobi PPO Benson Kibue and brought him up to speed with that. The Police boss agreed to the deal and that’s when peace brokering started.
Jaguar and Sonko met one of the feuding groups at Jam Rescue in Buru Buru who agreed to surrender their weapons to the authorities. They immediately left for Kinyago Police Station in Dandora where they gave up their arms in presence of Jaguar, Sonko, the Nairobi PPO, Buru Buru OCPD, Starehe OCPD Samuel Anampiu and Kinyago Police Station OCS as well as the residents of the area.
The members of one of the gangs that have been fighting for control of the dump site surrendered 2 guns and over 100 knives. The weapons were used by the gan members to protect their jurisdictions.
Jaguar and Sonko then met the other group at the Senator’s office where they vowed to co-exist in peace. They were then handed a KSh100,000 cheque to set up alternative businesses.
Contacted, Jaguar said he believes in second chances and everyone deserves a second chance. He added, “Thank God, that was able to save some lives”.
