While the plight of Wetangula under the hands of his wife ha brought him considerable shame, it has also been an opportunity to focus on the one side usually forgotten in the dialogue of domestic violence.
That is violence directed towards me by their spouses. Understandably, few men come out in the open to discuss and talk about their tribulations. This is why the recent report by an NGO coming in the aftermath of Moses Wetangula’s tribulations will come as a shocker.
According to the research conducted by Maendeleo ya Wanaume 18 Governors, 13 Senators, 95 MPs, and 346 MCAs are assaulted everyday by their wives.
Speaking to the Nation while releasing the findings, the the Chairman Nderitu Njoka said many even went to the desperate lengths of blaming their kids for the injuries saying they suffered them while playing with them. He blamed such behavior to the stigma suffered by the victims from society.
