Is Maina Kageni Quitting Radio?

Maina Kageni is one of the biggest individual brands in the entertainment industry. He is the undisputed king of radio in as far marketing is concerned and you can ask your favourite advertiser about that.

 But last year, on live air, Maina dropped a bombshell: he was going to quit radio this year and seek out a new challenge. When word went round that he would be quitting, his listeners went bonkers. they jammed the hotline begging him not to quit and leave them and we were both puzzled as to why the prospect of change scared so many.

But he seemed to indicate that his decision was solid and well thought through. And in a recent interview with my colleague Jeff, he gave a very strong indication that he would be leaving. His actual words were:

“I will have a surprise for my listeners”

Then again, time will clarify all these rumours and whispers swirling round. I would have called him but from what I hear, he’s not in the country so I will ask him a direct question when he gets back.
