How Ex Sweethearts Are ‘Finishing’ Nairobi Tycoons With Extravagant Divorce Settlements. Former CJ Willy Mutunga And Sports CS Hassan Wario Are Victims

When love turns sour for filthy rich couples, dejected sweethearts usually embark on a mission to milk dry their partners. This quagmire has befallen Sports CS Hassan Wario.

Divorce suits involving the high and mighty have shocked Kenyans as shocking revelations about sex, infidelity, violence, money etc, are usually exposed to the public.

Former Chief Justice Willy Mutunga, Transcend Media Group owner Michael Njeru and now Sports Cabinet Secretary Hassan Wario have had their dirty linen aired in public in divorce suits.

The ex wives of the above prominent persons demanded insane sums of money as upkeep not forgetting they accused their ex spouses of uncouth behaviors.

For Mutunga, his ex wife, Prof Beverle Michele Lax, accused him of denying her conjugal rights among other things. She demanded payment of Kes 150,000 a month in maintenance from her ex hubby.

Mutunga filed the divorce in December 2009, nine years after he married her. The ex CJ accused her of cruelty in the lawsuit.

Another tycoon embroiled in a divorce case is Michael Njeru. Njeru’s ex wife, Anne Evelyn Wambui, wants the court to order him to pay her Kes 1.3 million as upkeep every month and a further Kes 3.3 million as school fee for their children.

Wambui also wants Kes 10 million as insurance cover plus a court order restricting Michael Njeru from accessing their home.

Sports Cabinet Secretary Hassan Wario is also suffering the same fate like Mutunga and Njeru. Wario’s ex wife, Kaltum Dima Guyo, has taken him to court demanding Kes 400,000 as her monthly upkeep.

Ms Guyo had initially sued Wario in a court in England but the Sports CS ignored to file responses prompting her to file the matter before a Kenyan Constitutional Court.

Wario and Ms Guyo got married in Kenya, never sired children and consented to a divorce before the Supreme Court in UK in 2012.

She wants the court to compel Wario pay her Kes 400,000 as monthly upkeep which include; 150, 000 for rent, 50,000 for food, 50,000 for medical expenses, 50,000 for entertainment and 25,000 for utility.
