How Elani’s Extreme Desperation And Sanctimonious Greed Cost Them The Chance Of A New Hit Song As Well As A Glorious Comeback

After a lengthy hiatus, Elani released a song with Chameleone last week titled ‘My Darling. Everything could have been well and good. The song could have blown up and Elani would have reclaimed their spot as Kenya’s second best musical group next to Sauti Sol. But then they decided that no one can get the song unless they pay 30 bob. As a result, no f*cks were given about the song. And what happens when no one cares about a song? It simply doesn’t become a hit.

Now, a song featuring Chameleone should be a hit by default. Even if Ghafla’s cleaner featured Chameleone in a song, it would hit. Elani’s song featuring Chamemelone isn’t a hit and the blame lies solely on them. In short, Elani are their own worst enemies.

You can’t just go away for a year and come back with your own rules. You are not Adele, There’s only one Adele.

We understand that the group has been having financial problems. They came out and said they were in debt. How they fell into debt we don’t know. Maybe they fell for the hedonistic juggernaut that is celebrity culture and indulged in a plethora of luxury goods and services to satisfy each and every one of their sensual desires without hardship or sacrifice. Maybe they failed to see the cracks forming, the ship’s exterior rattling ominously before the hull finally burst open.

However, that’s not the big issue. How Elani have tried to get out if that debt is what’s disgusting.

In the last few weeks, we have seen them employ a most unusual assortment of strategies to make some mulla, They went on to attack MCSK so that everyone could feel ‘woiyee’ for them and force the musical body to award them several bank notes in compensation.

Seeing that MCSK couldn’t pay them millions for their music, they sat their pretty asses down and decided they are going to sell their next single. ‘30 bob isn’t a lot’ they said. Oh you think so?

This is Kenya. Even a rich man would rather spend 30 bob to buy sweets for his daughter who already has bad teeth than buy a song from his favorite artiste.. I know plenty of Elani fans and not even one of them bought the damn track.

The song could have been massive if the trio had just made a quality video for it and released it for free. Instead, greed gnawed at them and blocked what could have been a glorious comeback.

The group in fact went on to release the song for free on YouTube eventually. That was four days ago I think. But still no one cares. I haven’t heard it getting played on any radio station. It’s like someone trying to sell you a loaf of bread at an expensive price then after you refuse to buy it, they come back later and beg you to eat it for free. Sounds logical? I don’t think so.

I don’t hate Elani. I just think that someone needs to advise the trio before they are forever labeled as flashes in history rather than future legends. They were once the darlings of the industry but they are currently making so many ‘loser’ moves. I hope they do something to save themselves. I really hope so.
