‘House of Lungula’ Actors Look beyond ‘Lungula’
Kenya’s first sex comedy movie, ‘House of Lungula’ is slated to be released in the next couple of months as Kenyans patiently anticipate it. But for now, its cast is busy occupying itself with other decent activities and not ‘lungula’.
“House of Lungula” actors Gerald Langiri and Helena Waithera along with the director of the movie, Alex Konstantaras, joined by Natasha Wangui Mohammed of the “Changing Times” series fame and upcoming actress Lynne Knowles were last week visiting Mathare Community Educational Development Organization (MCEDO) to teach and educate the children of the Mathare slum.
Mathare Community Education and Development Organization (MCEDO) is a Community Based Organization operating in the heart of Mathare slum. The volunteer run CBO was formed in response to the plight of orphans and the vulnerable children (OVCs). The key areas included illiteracy, HIV & Aids awareness, feeding and environmental conservation.
Alex & Gerald follow proceedings keenly
“Giving back to the community is one thing I love doing when I have the chance. This was my second visit to the MCEDO and we actually enjoyed ourselves. It was fun seeing the likes of Helena Waithera, Alex Konstantaras, Natasha Mohammed come out of their comfort zones to go to the ghetto and give a helping hand and actually have fun while at it. Listening to the children talk about their future dreams and learning from us was touching. We were happier to know that the kids actually learnt something after we did a Q & A and most kids were saying ‘where we come from doesn’t matter. What it matters is where we want to be and where we want to go” says Gerald Langiri also founder of www.actors.co.ke
