Here’s the Last Note Juliana’s Son Left Before He Passed On

Juliana Kanyomozi’s friends and fans from across the region are still mourning the passing of her only son, Keron, last Sunday.

Speaking to Carol Kasujja of New Vision newspaper, Keron’s dad, Amon Lukwago says his son Keron Raphael Kabugo was in high spirits hours before he died on Sunday in Nairobi.

Amon and Keron’s mother Juliana flew to Nairobi, Kenya on July 13 where the 11-year-old boy had been referred for medical attention after an asthma attack.

Camera-shy Amon said, “As we travelled to Nairobi, we were communicating. Although he was unable to talk, he was able to scribble a few lines and even wrote me a note promising me that he was going to be strong.

“It was at that moment that I broke down and cried because I saw that he was really fighting for his life. I had hopes that he was going to be fine. Keron has been a strong boy.”

On Wednesday, the distraught dad, sitting on a couch in the main lounge of the family home in the Kawuku-Bunga city suburb, shared his son’s last moments, including a note which he said was now a treasure.

The note reads: “I am used to needles now. Do you know how many injections I have got and I did not feel pain not even crying.”

Moments later, he slotted it back and safely tucked the wallet away in the trouser pocket. “My only child has gone. I do not know why God takes the good. It is like a dream. I keep on thinking I will come out of the dream. It is going to take me long to recover. I will miss my boy,” he said.

Amon says Keron died in his arms,
“He breathed his last as I held him. Before he passed away, I looked at him and he also looked in my eyes but we could not communicate. That is the time I realised that my son was going for good.

A funeral service will be held today at All Saints Cathedral Nakasero. Burial will be at Lukwago’s ancestral home in Kiryagonja near Matugga on Bombo Road later today.
