When it comes to outer beauty Taita women arguably take the lead. One famous memoir even states, “Taita women are extremely beautiful; there’s never been so many beauties at one place like Taita. It is probably the only place where you go to the market and find all mama mboga looking extremely beautiful and qualified for a date.”

However, there must be the fairest of them all. Recently, 21 year old, Anna Olila Wughanga was crowned Miss Tourism Taita Taveta after beating 13 other contestants in a beauty pageant that showcased the county’s beauty, pride and cultural heritage.

Anna, a student of Business Administration at the United States International University (USIU) becomes the face of Taita Taveta and will be expected to promote the county’s unique treasures – its people, culture, scenic attractions, wildlife and investment opportunities.
