Here are the 5 goodies President Zuma will bring to Kenyans

South African President Jacob Zuma is the latest high-profile visit to Kenya by a Head of State.

Zuma will touch down at the Jommo Kenyatta International Airport on Monday evening for a three-day state visit.

The visit will see Kenya reap several huge benefits as the two countries continue to further boost their foreign, trade, security and immigration relations.

President Zuma will be accompanied by a large business delegation from the South African nation.

Key Goodies

1. Key on the agenda of the bilateral talks between the two presidents will be Kenya’s push and support for Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed for the chairperson of the African Union Commission.

Pres. Kenyatta will look for South Africa’s support to succeed Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, who will be seeking an elective post in South Africa.

Ms Dlamini-Zuma is President Zuma’s ex-wife.

2. According to State House, the presidents will be seeking to tackle non-tariff barriers, remove barriers impeding greater people-to-people contact between the two countries and examine ways to cooperate and collaborate in the security area in a globalized environment.

3. President Kenyatta will specifically be seeking to mitigate high levies facing Kenya’s tea exports and restrictions against other products, including but not limited to soda ash, processed meat.

4. The Heads of State will be seeking to consolidate and expand their counter-terrorism efforts, in a bid to more effectively and strategically push back against the twin threats of violent extremism and radicalisation.

5. President Kenyatta will also seek the reopening of the South African market to avocados from Kenya.

President Zuma will be received warmly, including with a 21-gun salute and a Guard of Honour mounted by the Kenya Defence Forces when formal reception ceremonies are held on Tuesday morning.

On Tuesday, the two presidents will address a Kenya-South Africa business forum, before President Zuma returns to State House for a State Banquet hosted in his honour by President Kenyatta.
