Happy Birthday E-sir!

Over a decade ago, Kenya lost one of it’s brightest stars to date in the embodiment of Issah M’mari. The lad who was the lead act for the stable Ogopa was quite the artist! Long before anyone thought of Kiswahili sanifu as cool, he was rapping using it and so influential was he that soon everyone begun to change their perspective on the language.

Sadly, tragically, we lost Esir in an accident. However, the man who inspired an entire generation into taking music seriously would have been 33 had he lived to see today. So today i want to celebrate him. Happy Birthday Esir! Issah Mmari (May 20, 1981 – March 16, 2003).
