They hope to achieve these by encouraging Ghanaians to wear made in Ghana’ clothes and other fashion accessories that are produced locally for both corporate and social functions.

The theme for this year’s edition of the Wear Ghana Month is captured as “Wear Ghana to promote the fashion industry in Ghana”

The following are the activities for the month of March 2018.

a. 9th March- Launching of Wear Ghana MONTH at the National Theatre.

b. 14th March –  Seminar at National the Theatre.

c. 23rd-24th of March – fashion show and exhibition and

d. 25th March – Ghana Fashion Industry Honours/awards – both activities will take place at LA-PALM RoyalBeach hotel in Accra.

The itinerary for the program include;

Afashion show, exhibitions of made in Ghana clothes and other fashion accessories at the National theatre. There will also be a component of the program dubbed “the Wear Ghana Challenge (#WEARGHANACHALLENGE). Here, the general public are expected to take pictures of themselves in their unique made in Ghana clothes. Afterwards, (#)hashtag them on all our social media pages (facebook, Instagram and tweeter-@wearghanamonth) with the name of the designer or beautician to qualify for a special treat. The whole event will be climaxed with an awards night dubbed (GHANA FASHION INDUSTRYHONOURS/AWARDS). Here, fashion industry players nationwide who have contributed to the growth of the industry in Ghana will be rewarded and honred.

In line with the above, the National Commission on Culture and Street Fashion Train have decided to dedicate the Wear Ghana Month in honour of the first President of Ghana, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. A Pan Africanist who led us to achieve independence; who was also very passionate about our culture and heritage.

The NCC and Street Fashion Train is therefore appealing to all well-meaning Ghanaians especially the youth to join forces with them to promote the Wear Ghana campaign in the month of March. This is because by wearing Ghana you are keeping our local textile industries in business. You are also creating more employment opportunities for fashion industry players. Not forgetting the fact that you’ll be helping government to generate revenue for development.

In conclusion, they’re urging all Ghanaians throughout the country to wear and use made-in-Ghana clothes. Together with other accessories that are produced.
