VGMA Does Not Reward Good Songs But ‘Popular’ Songs — Rex Omar
Rex Omar sounds his opinions.
GHAMRO President, Rex Omar expressed surprise that Patapaa’s ‘One Corner’ failed to win an award. Furthermore, this was at the just ended VGMA’s. However, he explained to Ghanaians why a situation like that could happen.
According to him, the VGMA is based on voting. It does not reward technical proficiency. However, simply those who can mobilize people to vote for them.
Therefore, Omar said a rubbish song can win many awards. And a great song would be neglected so long as the voting is the method of determination.
Patapaa’s popular ‘One Corner’ was unable to win Most Popular Song of the year at the recent awards.
