Actor James Gardiner is optimistic that the Ghanaian movie industry still has a brighter future despite current problems.

The Ghanaian movie industry has for sometime now been tagged by many industry players as ‘dead’.

The myriad of issues leading to our current sorry state of affairs in the industry are too many to list.

Whilst some actors and actresses kept on complaining bitterly that the movie industry does not

pay, Movie producers were also complaining that actors were charging too much. Then comes

the part where TV stations moved to showing cheaper foreign contents such as Telenovelas and several other reasons.

All these, according to some entertainment critics have played major roles in the downfall

of the industry.

But despite these issues, James Gardiner remains optimistic about the future of his chosen profession.

Gardiner in an interview on Zylofon FM’s Showbiz Agenda with Sammy Flex was asked if he believes there’s hope for the Ghanaian Movie industry.

In an answer to this question, he said;

“I feel like the wind is blowing towards a different direction. It went sour for a bit and wasn’t busy as it should be for some time but now there are channels that are solely for Ghanaian content and I feel that would motivate producers to work more.

“Initially, the issue was that they were not having the platforms and were not getting their monies worth whenever they do these productions but now there is even Zylofon cash, I mean a lot of platforms where they can put their materials and content then get back what they deserve.”
