Zylofon Music Is In Financial Crisis – PRO Reveals

The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of Zylofon Music, Arnold Asamoah Baidoo has disclosed

that the record label is currently facing challenges. Speaking on Peace FM’s Entertainment

Review on Saturday, he noted that there has been a lull in the record label’s activities due to

a financial crisis.

In his explanation, Arnold said the challenges are as a result of the current problems the

parent company, Menzgold, is in.

“As we all know Menzgold has been facing some challenges in recent times and it is expected that as a sister company to Zylofon Music, the record label would encounter crisis too,” he stated.

This comes on the back of rumors that the company has asked some of its managers to

resign and that some of its artistes were about to exit the record label.

Even though Gospel musician, Joyce Blessing, has refuted claims that she has left Zylofon

Music record label, Arnold also stated on Peace FM that it is possible some of the artistes

may bail out on the company in the midst of the crisis.

“As we speak, Joyce Blessing is part of the record label. No artiste has left but the possibility of they leaving in times like this is imminent,” he told Graphic.com.gh in an interview.

At the moment some of the artistes are relying on their own means to promote their projects and craft.

Joyce Blessing is currently promoting her new single, Repent, which unlike previously, bears

no signature of Zylofon Music.

Zylofon Music stepped into Ghana’s entertainment industry in 2017 when they signed

Highlife musician, Kumi Guitar.

They later brought on artistes like Stonebwoy, Joyce Blessing, Becca, Obibini and Shatta Wale.

Founded by Nana Appiah Mensah, who also owns Menzgold, the Zylofon Media conglomerate

has under its umbrella other companies like the Zylofon Arts Club, Zylofon Arts Fund, Zylofon

Movies, Zylofon Cash, Zylofon FM and Zylofon TV.

At present, Menzgold Ghana Limited, a gold trading firm has been ordered by the Securities

and Exchange Commission to suspend its operations.

According to SEC, Menzgold does not have the license to trade in gold collectibles from the public.

Our Artistes Are Doing Exceptionally Well – Zylofon Music

The establishment of Zylofon Media few years ago has been a major blessing to Ghana’s entertainment industry according to some industrial players.

However, the company has faced some major criticisms by some Ghanaians who believe it is rather retarding the success of their artistes.

According to some entertainment critics, artistes signed onto the label were doing well previously. However, they’re no more active after joining the label.

This has become a major topic for some people who believe that the label is not doing what it actually claims to be doing.

But the communications Director of Zylofon Music, Arnold Asamoah-Baidoo has discredited that assertion as a misconception.

According to him, the mission of the label is to support artistes to have local dominance as well as international appeal.

Some of the artistes, he stated had had an appreciable level of success before joining the label. Adding that the label is committed to giving them the best resources to go even higher.

“I don’t know and I have not heard of any of our artistes complaining about conditions. Besides, they are provided with all the resources they require to succeed. They are well placed and their welfare is catered for. That is the desire of every musician.

“However, we haven’t lost sight of the fact that our artistes need to make great gains in their career and that is what we are doing now. For instance, Kumi Guitar’s brand has been given a makeover from when he joined the label.

“The likes of Obibini, Becca, Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy and even Joyce Blessing are performing remarkably but we can’t expect the success rates of all the artistes to be at par. I admit there’s more room for improvement,

but this is a gradual process and eventually, things will fall in place,” he said.

In line with its pledge to provide the best of resources for its artistes, Zylofon Music has acquired new offices. These offices according to the company would also house its signees. Furthermore, Arnold says this falls within the label’s aim of becoming the biggest record label in Africa and beyond.

“It is unfortunate that people are wishing for the downfall of an entity which has come to the aid of artistes. That is very unfair because when Zylofon makes a lot of gains,

it will definitely attract other worthy investors to the industry.” He added.

Shatta Wale And Stonebwoy Don’t Need To Be Friends – Zylofon Music

The fued between two of Ghana’s great dancehall artistes, Stonebowy and Shatta Wale has been a major concern for many music lovers in the country.

Many believe that their feud could create barriers for them in their career whiles others see it to be all entertainment and nothing personal.

However, many expected the story to change when both artistes became ‘brothers’ on the same label, Zylofon media.

Nonetheless, this didn’t change anything as they both continues to ‘shade’ each other in one way or another.

As the ‘parent’ managing both artistes, Zylofon has been expected to calm tensions between the two parties.

However, it appears such a move is not in the plans of the label.

According to Communications Director of Zylofon Music, Arnold Asamoah-Baidoo, both artistes don’t need to be friends.

He further stated that there is nothing to worry about since their personal relationship isn’t of interest to the label.

“Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy don’t have to be friends and we don’t care whether they are friends or not. Besides, it is not enshrined in the contracts they signed that label mates have to be friends.

“However, we expect them to have respect for themselves and adhere to the terms and conditions of their contracts. So far as they are doing what is expected of them, their personal relationship isn’t our business.”  He told Showbiz at the new Zylofon Music offices at East Legon on Tuesday.

Shatta Wale’s Claim Of Not Having No AC In His Office False – Zylofon Music

Zylofon Music has tagged their artiste, Shatta Wale’s claim of having no air-conditioner in his office a hoax.

The dancehall act a few days ago took to Facebook to lodge a complaint that he has no air-conditioner in his office at Zylofon Music.

“So my office for Zylofon ,no air condition deh am not happy at all ..oh wow .. NAM1 come and save me oooo lol …, he wrote.

But reacting to this  allegation, the Communications Director for Zylofon Music, Arnold Asamoah-Baidoo says Shatta’s comment was totally not true but should be treated as one of his jokes.

Asamoah-Baidoo disclosed that, the Founder of Zylofon Music, Nana Appiah Mensah has put up a beautiful edifice for Zylofon Music. He added that each artiste signed on to the label has his/her office fully furnished with air Conditioners, fridges and all the things that will make them feel extremely comfortable and Shatta Wale is part of the people who enjoy these privileges.

“Shatta Wale’s claim is totally not true. I mean if you see the kind of edifice that Nana Appiah Mensah has put up you’ll be marveled. For my twelve years of being in this entertainment industry, I have not seen any record label put up that kind of structure. You may say because I’m an official of Zylofon Music so I may be bias.  But you’d equally agree with me if you get to see the kind of structure that has been put up.”

He said on Hitz FM.

He added that, Zylofon Music is undoubtedly one of the most functional and biggest label in Africa at the moment considering the kind of services provided to its signees.

Mr. Asamoah-Baidoo also said, media reporters could go to the office of Zylofon Music to find out the truth themselves. Thus, if fans of Shatta Wale doubts whatever he (Asamoah-Baidoo) is proving.

He also argued, the record label approached the Shatta Movement President about the accusation. But his response was that, it was just a joke and nothing major they should worry their heads about.
