Zylofon, Halifax Didn’t Pay For My Fine – Wisa Gried

Eugene Ashie, best known as Wisa Greid has debunked rumors that Halifax Ansah Addo bailed him out.

On April 30th, the Accra circuit court found Wisa Gried guilty of showing his penis publicly to a crowd when he was performing at the 2015 edition of Citi Fm’s Decemba2Remeba, at a time when he had a major hit, titled ‘Ekiiki Mi’.

He was charged with gross indecency and was fined an amount of Ghc8,400. He was however to serve 24 months in prison should he fail to pay the amount.

It was later widely rumored and published that, Halifax had rescued Wisa from going to jail by paying Ghc10,000 for his fine.

Halifax Ansah Addo is the newly appointed Head of Communication for Zylofon Cash and Zylofon Events.

However, Wisa Gried in an Instagram post has stated that Halifax never paid for his bail.

He stated that his bail was paid by himself with the help of CEO of Black Avenue Muzik ‘D BLack’ and some friends at the Ghana Tourism Authority.

He further explained that Halifax happens to be a friend and called to offer his assistance. Adding that he never knew he(Halifax) even worked for Zylofon.

“I want to categorically state that my fine was paid by myself, CEO of Black Avenue Muzik ‘D BLack’ and our friends at the Ghana Tourism Authority who support the creative arts.

“Zylofon didn’t pay my fine nor did anyone from Zylofon. My friend Halifax called earlier today to offer assistance as a friend. I’m surprised to see stories flying about tagged Zylofon rescues me and pays my fine.

“I didn’t even know Halifax as [was] a staff of Zylofon. I knew him as a friend”, he added.

Judgement In Wisa Gried’s Case Set For April 25

An Accra Circuit Court has fixed April 25 to deliver its judgement in respect of the case of Eugene Ashie aka Wisa Gried.

Wisa Gried is a hiplife artiste who has been accused of displaying his penis while performing on stage.

The court was presided over by Mrs Abena Oppong Adjin-Doku. She has ordered Mr Jerry Avernogbor, Wisa’s counsel to file his address by April 10.

This was after prosecution had ended its cross examination of Sylvanus Mawuli Ahiagble, a defense witness.

Earlier, Defence counsel led Ahiagble to testify before the court.

The defense witness also happens to be an artiste. He told the court that he and Wisa planned to have publicity stunt since they were new in the music industry. That was on December 24, 2016.

According to the defense witness the plan was that Wisa was going to pull out a fake manhood on stage.

Ahiagble, however, said he stood behind the stage. Hence he did not witness Wisa executing the said plan.

Defense witness said Wisa never displayed his manhood but a doodle.

This was an answer to a cross examination by Prosecution Chief Inspector Judith B. Asante.

The defense witness again mentioned that before Wisa’s incident, he had recorded a couple of songs. And same could be verified via the internet.

Defense witness admitted that he and Wisa planned to deceive the public with the fake manhood.

Ahiagble said he would be surprised to hear that Wisa displayed his manhood and not doodle.

When asked why Ahiagble did not accompany Wisa to the Police station he told the court that the Police did not invite him.

Background

Wisa Gried, of the ‘Ekikimi’ fame, was arrested for allegedly exposing his penis in public. This was while he was performing at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) on December 24, 2015.

He has, however, denied a charge of gross indecent exposure and is on a ¢8,000.00 bail with one surety.

On December 25, 2015, the Accra Regional Police was alerted over a nude video posted on the Internet from an unknown source, in which Wisa intentionally exposed his penis, while performing live on stage.

According to the Prosecution the Police contacted the managers of Artiste to produce him at the Regional Police Headquarters for investigations, which they did.

The prosecution said investigations into the matter disclosed that on December 24, Airtel Communications Company and Citi FM, an Accra-based radio station, organised an event dubbed: ‘Decemba 2 Rememba’ which included the accused as a guest artiste.

In the course of the show, the accused, while dancing with a female dancer identified as Monica Kumadeh, suddenly removed his penis out of his pair of jeans and began to caress the buttocks of the dancer.

Prepare To Give Your Evidence Even In The Absence Of Your Lawyer – Judge Tells Wisa

Hiplife Artiste, Wisa Gried has been asked to prepare to open his defense today, February 22 even if his lawyer does not appear before the court.

The order was issued yesterday by Mrs Abena Oppon Adjin-Doku, a judge at the Domestic Violence and Gender-Based Court.

Wisa Gried, born Eugene Ashie told the court on Wednesday that his lawyer, Jerry Avenorgbor was indisposed. This he explained was because the lawyer had been attacked by armed robbers.

He however told the court in the previous sitting that he is ready to produce two witnesses to testify in the trial of the alleged exposure of his manhood.

The ‘Ekiki Mi’ hit singer was supposed to open his defense yesterday, February 21. This was after the Accra Circuit court had dismissed the submission of no case filed by the embattled musician.

Wisa’s Trial;

Wisa Gried is standing trial for allegedly showing his manhood during a live performance on December 24, 2015. This was during the ‘December 2 Remember’ event at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).

In the video of the artiste seems to strip whilst rubbing his manhood against his female dancer on stage.  This however compelled his management to apologize for what it described as the artiste’s “rash and irresponsible behavior “.

Wisa has been granted bail in the sum of GH¢8,000, after pleading ‘not guilty’ to gross indecent exposure when he appeared before the Accra Circuit Court.
