Willi Roi’s Death: Family Rules Out Suicide

The family of late Willie Roi has debunked reports that their beloved may have died of suicide.

According to report sighted on Ghanaweb by Ghaflagh.com, some family members of the late music legend said they suspect Willi Roi died through heart failure.

Roi who was the head the Zylofon Arts Club died on Sunday, February 10, 2019 at his apartment at East Legon, Accra with blood oozing from his mouth and noise according to reports.

His body has however been deposited at the Police Hospital morgue in Accra for autopsy.

The deceased, according to his family was sometimes a difficult person to deal with but was never a bad person.

Adding that, he was a free-spirited man fond of encouraging the youth in their endeavors.

With about 40 years experience in the showbiz industry was a musician,Willi was a

songwriter, producer and an outspoken pundit on Showbiz Agenda, a morning show on Zylofon.

Meanwhile, the Mr Roi has worked with African music legends including Femi Kuti, Sunny Ade,

Sunny Okussuns and Daddy Lumba and groomed talents on the Zylofon Arts Club.

Willi Roi’s Death Too Shocking – Zylofon Media PRO

Ghanaians last night were hit by the unfortunate news of the sudden death of music legend and head of the Zylofon Arts Club ,Willi Roi.

Many including his colleagues at Zylofon Media have since expressed their shock at the news and have been eulogizing him on the various social media platforms.

One notable among them is the Head of Communications for Zylofon Media, Sammy Atuobi

Baah popularly known as Sammy Flex.

According to him, the death of one of its tireless officials, Willi Roi is too shocking.

Willi Roi reportedly died on Sunday, February 10, in his apartment at the Royal Richester Hotel at East Legon in Accra.

Reports indicate that security personnel broke into his room after he did not come out the whole

day and found his lifeless body.

In an interview with Showbiz on Monday, February 11, Sammy Baah said although Willi Roi had

not been feeling too well, they didn’t think the illness was that serious for him to die.

According to him, his death is not only a big blow to Zylofon Media but the entire entertainment

industry.

“Despite his utterances Willi Roi did a great job in the entertainment industry. He worked with so many great artistes including Femi Kuti and Daddy Lumba,” he said.

Sammy Baah said a team from Zylofon Media would visit the Police Hospital where Willi Roi’s

body has been deposited, at 10 am on Monday to get some answers into his death.

“The death of Willi Roi still remains strange to us and we are asking the police to do an autopsy to ascertain the cause of his death before his body is handed over to his family,” he said.

For Sammy Baah, the death was a heavy blow considering the fact that Zylofon Media was

already going through some challenges.

“It is very unfortunate we have lost an influencer like Willi Roi at the time the company is going through difficult times. We actually wish it was not true but it’s unfortunate it is true,” he said

He described the music producer as a team player who was so passionate about his work.

Willi Roi, who was a musician, songwriter, producer among others, had about 40 years

experience in the showbiz industry. He was an outspoken pundit on Zylofon’s morning show, Showbiz Agenda.

His comments sometimes offended people’s sensibilities and there were calls for him to be

sacked. Although he was taken off the show for a while, he was reinstated and remained his outspoken self until his death.

Meanwhile, all kinds of speculations are going on on social media about what could have killed him.

Breaking News: Zylofon Media’s Willi Roi Reportedly Dead

The Head of Zylfon Arts Club and legendary record producer, Willi Roi who was popularly known as Uncle Willie has passed away.

Willi Roi, who played a vital role in establishing Zylofon Arts Club, was found dead in his

apartment at Royal Richester Hotel at East Legon, Accra on Sunday, February 10, 2019.

An insider tells us that Willi Roi recently moved into the new apartment from his Tema home

to help him reduce the stress after his night gigs in Accra.

According to a close source, Willie Roi was found dead with blood oozing out of his mouth.

“He returned from a gig around 12 am and moved in straight to his apartment. According to the security personnel, they had not seemed him move out till evening and decided to go check on him only to find out he had passed on with blood oozing out of his mouth. We just brought the body to the police morgue”, Source said.

However, details of what caused his death is not yet known to us.

We are told that security officers broke into his room and found his lifeless body after he failed

to step out the whole day.

His body was taken to the Police Hospital this evening.

I Don’t Manage Artistes Who Are Not Humble – Willie Roi

Legendary musician Willi Roi, has said that he will under no circumstance manage a stubborn artiste.

Willi Roi’s statement precedes an ongoing debate as to whether or not to manage stubborn talents.

The seasoned music producer and sound engineer, further added that he will not hesitate to

let go of stubborn artistes.

Roi, who doubles as the Artistes and Repertoire Manager of Zylofon Arts Club shared this

opinion on the outfit’s radio station, Zylofon FM.

According to him,  it is best to do away an artiste, once you notice signs of pride in the beginning before they attain fame.

“Once I see signs of pride at the initial stages of our union, where the artiste cannot be humble, I drop him or her”, he mentioned.

Mr. Roi pointed out that, fame causes artistes to change their attitudes, hence it is better to avoid an obstinate artiste, before fame makes him or her worse.

Ghanaian Gospel Musicians Are Not Business Minded – Willie Roi

Music producer and Artiste Development Manager at Zylofon Music, Willie Roi has emphatically stated that Ghanaian gospel musicians are not business minded people.

Willi is certain that Ghanaian gospel artistes will excel if they should forgo some archaic methods.

Mr. Roi added that they should need to snap out of the archaic way of always singing in church during Sundays.

He however advised these artistes to start making money with their talents in the outside world.

According to Willi Roi, he believes the mentality (“I am doing for it for God”) is one of the factors why Ghanaian gospel musicians are not able to make it to the top.

“They need to explore the business aspect of their career. They should stop binding themselves with misquotations of the word of God,” he  said.

Willi was speaking as a pundit on Zylofon FM’s Showbiz Agenda with host, Sammy Flex.

 

Management Bans Willi Roi From Zylofon FM

Management of Zylofon Media has banned its Head of Arts Club, Willi Roi from participating on Zylofon FM.

Willi Rio has been banned from participating in the station’s “Showbiz Agenda” show and any other on-air programmes.

His ban follows his recent outburst on the radio station. His outburst coupled with some social media posts have come under severe castigation, putting his employers in the bad light almost all the time.

Mr. Roi’s Facebook posts;

“WHEN AN ARTISTE HAS NO SELF CONFIDENCE HE SEES HIS OWN SHADOW AS ENEMY By WilliRoi” and “EVEN SATAN
“WANTED OUT OF HEAVEN SO WE DONT CARE IF ARTISTE WANT OUT OF ZYLOFON #WilliRoi

These are some of his posts on Facebook that have come under lots of criticms. Mr. Roi’s posts follows the recent conflicts between the media outlet and Stonebwoy.

He was also reported to have called on security to sack a panelist from a live show for his views on the controversies.

Willi Roi has therefore been asked by Management to stay off all activities on live radio on Zylofon 102.1FM. This includes  his pundit role on ‘Showbiz Agenda’, the entertainment morning show on the dial until further notice.

According to a report sighted on Entertainmentgh, by Ghaflagh.com, Roi did not get the outright dismissal as many has anticipated. However, confirmed reports indicate that Management has banned him from participating in any programme on the radio station.

Sammy Baah, Head of Communications at Zylofon Media confirmed the decision by Management on Wednesday, March 14.

It is also not clear, if Willie Roi has also been barred from making appearances on other stations. However, he’s to now concentrate on his core job, training the up and coming stars at the Zylofon Arts Club.
