We Are Worth Celebrating – Reggie Rockstone On VVIP@20

Hiplife/Hiphop group, VVIP, formerly VIP is a group that has really come far. Looking at their consistency and other achievements, they can best be recommended as the group that fits to be called ambassadors for our music industry.

VVIP is a good example of brotherly love and unity because, not every music group in Ghana has made it this far.

It has given us some of the biggest hits in the country, has stood strong in the face of exits by some group members and still retains relevance in the industry.

For these and many more reasons, as the group turns 20-years, Hiplife Grandpapa, Reggie Rockstone believes they are worth celebrating.

VVIP

Reggie Rockstone became a member of the honorable group in 2013. His addition, led to the name change from VIP to VVIP.

“I am happy to be alive and part of a group I have seen grow from strength to strength. This group started from scratch and has been able to hold the fort till now,” Rockstone told Showbiz in an interview on Tuesday.

According to him, VVIP has a very inspirational story, especially coming from a place like Nima where no one expected anything good from them. He added thathis support to the group is not because he’s now a member but would have done that even if he wasn’t.

“If even I was not part of the group, I would still have supported wholeheartedly. I feel proud of them and I think they are worthy of a documentary or a movie telling a story of how they started and their future plans.

The new Hiplife artistes can learn a lot of stuff from this group I have personally admired. There is more we have up our sleeves and we want Ghanaians to watch out for us,” he said.

In a personal testimony, Rockstone told Showbiz joining VVIP has been one of the greatest things to ever happen to him. The group has released hit songs like ‘Selfie’, ‘Skolom’, ‘Dogo Yaro’, ‘Koliko’ among others since Reggie became a member.

He maintains that he had admired the group from afar. Hence, he did not hesitate to join in spite of the negative comments people made.

“Reggie as an addition to VVIP is like bringing together Daddy Lumba and Amakye Dede and evidence why the group is always moving forward,” he said.

According to VVIP, on the 20th anniversary, another member, Zeal, will mount a huge stage at a concert that will celebrate their achievements and also thank Ghanaians for their support over the years.

He said that the concert will be launched on April 27 at Holiday Inn Hotel.

“The VVIP group made up of Zeal, Prodigal and Reggie has a lot coming up. And very soon Ghanaians are going to experience it,” Zeal told Showbiz.

Initially known as VIP, the group started with other members like Friction and Promzy. However, they later left to pursue other interest.

Indeed, the group has come a long way and its name will be written in gold in Ghanaian music history. It surely is worthy to be celebrated.

Stop The Unnecessary Beef, Let Our Music Do The Talking-VVIP Jabs Shatta Wale

VGMA 2017 Best group of the year VVIP has once again taken a swipe at dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale.

The group, on their official Instagram page took turns to spell some words of advise to Shatta Wale, advising him to stop the ‘fake beef’ and focus on his music.

This follows some comments the dancehall King passed about VVIP. Shatta Wale was spotted in a live video in which he stated that the music group sold cheap to Nigeria at one of their visit there.

The utterance, howvever did not go down well for the group.

More so, a provoked member of the group, Zeal, in reply referred to him as a “fool” for saying that.

Shatta, as usual, retaliated with insults to Zeal.

The beef that was therefore supposed to be between Shatta and WizKid has now become Shatta and VVIP.

More on VVIP

While indirectly throwing shade at the Dancehall King, VVIP took to their timeline to congratulate WizKid and Davido for winning the MOBO awards.

According to the group, when an African wins, he wins for the whole of Africa.

They further congratulated Wizkid for being the first African Artist to win MOBO’s Best International act. They also congratulated Davido for winning MOBO Best African act.

The group again called on all up and coming dancehall artistes to remeber to celebrate Samini.

Samini was the first Ghanaian to win the Best MOBO African Act in 2006.

” Let’s stop focusing on fake beef and get to work, winning for Africa. BE PROUD AFRICANS”, they urged.
