I See Nothing Wrong With People Who Have Dreads – Joe Mettle

Multiple awards-winning Ghanaian gospel artist, Joe Mettle has said that he sees nothing wrong with ‘Rastafarians’.

According to the musician, he has no problem with other gospel artistes having dreadlocks or

other peculiar hairstyles.

Speaking on Happy FM’s ‘Ayekoo Drive’, the ‘My Everything’ hitmaker stated that;

“there is nothing wrong with someone having a Rasta hairstyle, it is just that our culture does not condone it that much”.

He also added that, “Christianity is faith-based and people may choose to have any hairstyle

of their choices, though Ghana has her own culture, and we are all expected to live by these

culturally defined norms”.

“We have the right to do all things but not all things are right”, he said.

He, however, stated that, it may not be necessarily sinful to have Rasta hairstyle or a peculiar

haircut, but it can serve as a distraction to other people.

“This is because musicians serve as role models to their fans. In such cases, other young Christians can also spot the same hairstyle and may even overdo it”.

He further noted that, “peculiar haircuts are spotted by most gospel artistes in Europe and that is accepted because their culture permits it, it resonates with them and their messages are sent across without distortion, and that does not make them sinful. If we also want to practice same, then we should be wary about them because of where we come from”.

Awards Can Never Change Me – Joe Mettle

We’re left with just some few hours for the biggest entertainment award show in Ghana, the 19th Vodafone Ghana Music Awards(VGMAs).

However, the current reigning champion, Gospel artiste, Joe Mettle has something to say about his status as an award’s winner.

According to the ‘Boo No Ni’  singer, winning an award can never change his attitude to the way he organizes himself and do things.

Many people believe that, awards have a way of influencing a person’s utmost behavior and appearance. Thus, being it personally or career-wise. These people are often believed to behave as if they are ‘all knowing’ and the best in all things.

But speaking on the Celebrity Ride with Zionfelix show, Joe Mettle said that perception does not work for him.

According to him winning an award rather serves as an encouragement, forcing him to do what he is doing better.

He further stated that he believes awards only helps to boost the brand of an artiste. But not to contribute to change in attitudes of the artiste’s personality of business dealings.
