Creative Arts Should Be Separated From Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry – Barima Sidney

Ghanaian Hiplife artiste, Barima Sidney has bemoaned the neglect of the creative arts industry.

Sidney is therefore calling on President Akufo-Addo to decouple Creative Arts from

the Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry.

The Ministry was created by the Mahama administration in 2013 to foresee and

regulate organisations and activities under tourism and creative arts in the country.

Few years after the creation of the Ministry however, many stakeholders have accused it

of being biased towards the Creative Arts sector stressing that all attention is on only tourism.

Current Minister of the sector, Catherine Afeku, has had her own share of the criticism.

Rating the leadership of Catherine Afeku in a conversation with JoyNews’ MzGee, Barima

Sidney said there was a need to alienate Tourism from the Arts to yield the desired results.

I think she is doing well but the only thing I will say is, it is not her fault but I think

combining tourism and creative arts is something the president needs to look at

because tourism is taking everything from the creative arts. Tourism is big and

they are pumping a lot of money in tourism and neglecting creative arts,” he said.

“So we will plead with the president to separate the two. Put the Tourism somewhere and let’s have the creative arts too,” he added.

I Am Not A Womanizer – Barima Sidney Debunks Rumors

Veteran Ghanaian hiplife artiste, Barima Sidney has debunked rumors that he is a womanizer.

Few days ago, controversial counselor, George Lutterodt tagged Sidney a womanizer on Roman Fada’s mid morning show at Atinka FM.

This was after Sidney’s song dubbed, “Mpinatwe Y3d3” was played on the show. According to Counselor Lutterdodt, Barima Sidney is an exemplary womanizer as his new music tells it all.

He also claimed that Sidney is always seen with women around him, hence he’s not surprised at the lyrical contents of his latest single especially when it is coming from a womanizer like Barima Sidney.

Reacting to the news, Sidney says the nature of his works demands him working with many women. That notwithstanding, he’s not a womanizer.

According to him, he’s not a womanizer and will never be.

“I’m not a womanizer and I don’t think I will be a womanizer. I have a lot of female friends in the creative industry I work with. I have no intention of dating any of them. We do business together and nothing more.” He told Freddy Kay of GhMelodies.com on a phone call interview.”

He added that; “The nature of my work as a musician and a stage performer always require the services of such ladies because most of them are back up singers and others are dancers. My movement with them doesn’t mean i have anything intimate to do with them bur strictly business.”

Barima Sidney called on Ghanaians to dismiss such false rumors.

“If there is anything I would want the public to spare me of, it is the perception that many people hold that Sidney is a womanizer. Sometimes, I wonder what evidence such accusers have to label me as such”, he said.

He also stated emphatically that he has never dated any lady in the music industry ever since he joined it more than two decades ago.

Sidney also dismissed the assertions that he’s no longer a force to reckon with in the music industry. He urged his fans to watch out for him this year because he’s back for good.

“I want my fans to know that Sidney is back this year for good and ready to give them juicy stuff. I have already dropped three singles this month. I’ve got more singles and videos in the pipeline for all my fans. I’m working on my new album which would probably come out by the end of the year,” he said.

Meanwhile the song ‘Mpinatwe Y3d3’ that was released together with two other songs ‘Kpeeeh’ and ‘Gwara Gwara’ just some few days ago is already trending with massive airplays.
