Stop Telling Old Artistes To Quit – Ded Buddy

Ghanaian R&B singer, Ded Buddy talks about the Ghanaian music scene. Moreover, according to him, it is more frustrating for them when people keep telling them to quit.

Also, he stated it is better to cheer on old musicians rather than force them to quit since “their time has passed”.

He made these statements in an interview with Showbiz.

“Just imagine the stress and effort that goes into recording a song. You go to the studio for days to record a song, get publicity for it and while you expect to be motivated for what you are doing, people think your works shouldn’t be appreciated and recognised because you are an old artiste. Truly, it is not the best for old artistes to be told to quit music” 

However, in the almost five years since Ded Buddy came back to the country to get his music back on track, he’s faced a lot of challenges which have hindered his success.

“I’m very sure that if Michael Jackson were alive, he will still be touring the world with his music. Just look at Jay-Z and the number of years he’s been rapping but still America and the world still embrace his works.

“Today, we are hailing the young ones so do we expect an artiste like Sarkodie to quit rapping and music in some 10 years or more to come just because he’s been in the game for long?

“Of course not, but unfortunately this is what Ghana’s music industry has become and that must not be encouraged.”
