‘Punches Are Always Necessary And Allowed’ – Samini Says As He Eyes Album Of The Year Award

Ghanaian Reggae/Dancehall, Emmanuel Andrews Samini, popularly known as Samini, has expressed his views on musical lyrics.

Samini believes it’s always very necessary and allowed to throw punches in songs.

‘The Obimbra’ hitmaker was speaking about his 21-track “Untamed Album”, which was reviewed song-by-song on Zylofon FM’s Showbiz Agenda.

His comment however follows a question posed by the host of the show, Sammy Flex, about some lines in his “Ragga Dada” piece that seemed to be aiming a swipe at Shatta Wale, the self-acclaimed king of dancehall.

Below is the excerpt of the lyrics of the “Ragga Dada” song being discussed:

“what’s the king without a regiment? If you really want to battle with the better, check your readiness … you make the wrong move, a man, you no go get me o Rasta no be toy, them no fit set me o Them lay ambush and them try set me up But them know I’m good Jah, Jah bless me o It’s funny when a man said he’s gonna end my career When he can’t even run ten of my career Everybody knows, me, I be the benchmark for years”.

The “Linda” hitmaker accepted that the song which was produced by JMJ has some punches

and it’s very necessary and allowed to have them.

Samini, in another development also said he’s already won the 2019 VGMA Album of the Year

when he was asked whom he thinks can win the award.

He also revealed that he didn’t cut the cake his family presented to him with the knife given during his show in December 2018 on stage because he thought doing so will mean stabbing himself.
