Photos: Sister Deborah Stuns In These Kente Kimono Clothes
By Peace Agyare on March 12, 2018
Deborah Vanessa or Sister Derby as she’s affectionately called is known for her immense love for culture.
Culture, they say is a way of life, which defines ones origin. That notwithstanding, culture is dynamic and is prone to change. Now there are many fashionistas out there that do a lot of slaying in Ghana but how many of them really portray the Ghanaian culture in their fashion?
Well, Sister Derby has just nailed it. We all know what a Kente Cloth is and the value we attach to it. Just like the Kente Cloth, the Japanese kimono is one of the world’s instantly recognizable traditional garments. The word “kimono“, actually means a “thing to wear” (ki “wear” and mono “thing”). Up until the mid 19th century it was the form of dress worn by everyone in Japan. It is a long, loose traditional Japanese robe with wide sleeves, tied with a sash.
Deborah Vanessa is a presenter, musician and model. She has over the years demonstrated her love for fashion and culture through her photos on social media. This particular one is no exception as she beautifully radiates in these Kente Kimono clothes. What a beautiful way to mark the ‘Wear Ghana Month‘
