Patience Nyarko about her song used by the NPP

“I got a hint that NPP used my song during their congress without my consent where the MC being an active member of the party, Lord Commey, declaring ‘Obi Nyanime” song as the official song for the event which borders on copyright…”

The host asked her what her next line of action was. This is if they don’t hear back from the party. She stated that then they would go to court.

“The reason is that I think about my fans, we first considered what the party discussed with us to make peace but they think they are big and that they can just take someone’s property without thinking about the person”

Also, she revealed that her management wrote officially to the General Secretary of the party, John Boadu, Chief of Staff Tourism minister. However, there were no results.

“People think I have sold the song to NPP, it is very difficult for people to believe me when I ask for loan from them because they think I have taken money from NPP. Nobody has given me anything, they took the song without my consent”

“It’s not right, it’s a big offence for using someone’s intellectual property without the person’s knowledge and I believe that NPP is a big party which understands all these legalities so I’m hoping for the right thing to be done or go to court for redress”

Furthermore, they contacted the deputy General Secretary of the part, Lawyer Obiri Boahene. He apologized on the party’s behalf for the mistake. Also, he added that, the management should exercise patience for the matter. This was better than discussing it on air.
