Stonebwoy Was Given A Week To Stay Or Leave Zylofon – Kumi Guitar Reveals
Zylofon Media’s first signed artiste, Kumi Guitar has revealed that dancehall artiste, Stonebwoy was given a week ultimatum to decide whether he still wants to work with the label or not.
The ultimatum, he said, was given to the Bhim Nation President in a meeting with the management of the media outfit about a week ago.
Kumi Guitar who said he didn’t want to talk about the controversies between his label and label mate said he had decided to spill the beans after the nasty turn of events at Legon Campus over the weekend.
“What really pushed me to start talking now is last Saturday, Legon had a show in collaboration with Zylofon and we were all billed to perform. We were there and were parked for a long while and a fan called me that they are pulling down all the banners we’ve used to brand the place in Zylofon’s name…so he was asking if the show is closed because he’s not seen us perform…” Kumi told Myjoyonline.com in an interview.
The ‘Betweener’ crooner said he couldn’t understand why Stonebwoy had to ask organizers to get rid off anything that had Zylofon printed on it.
Kumi, who wondered why Stonebwoy didn’t allow them perform quizzed whether an artiste having an issue with his label means he also has an issue with his label mates. “…if you have an issue with Zylofon, do you have an issue with me? No, do you have an issue with Obinini? No, do you have an issue with Joyce Blessing?”
The man who believes he influenced the establishment of Zylofon Media declined to comment on the nasty incident at the Champs Bar. He was however worried that if things continue the way they are now, Stonebwoy might succeed in pulling down Zylofon Media. Adding that, the downfall of Zylofon Media means his downfall as well.
“If these things keep happening and he [Stonebwoy] succeeds or people don’t get the picture right, he might succeed in pulling down Zylofon and if Zylofon is down, I am down,” the man who believes he influenced the establishment of Zylofon Media said.

He added noted that where there’s a contract issues must be resolved amicably. But if one party fails to fulfill their end of the contract, then the other party has to point it out.
Kumi further disclosed that, Zylofon Media paid all Stonebwoy’s expenses including his trips, recordings and his two major concerts – one at Ashaiman and the other at the National Theatre.
According to Kumi Guitar, Zylofon Media paid all Stonebwoy’s expenses including his trips, recordings and his two major concerts – one at Ashaiman and the other at the National Theatre.
According to Kumi Guitar, Stonebwoy is pissed off because his arch rival was signed onto the same label with him.
“What I heard was that you got angry because Shatta [Wale] was signed… if you won’t give him what he wants, automatically he [Nana Appiah Mensah – Zylofon Media CEO] will fail to give you what you want or better still, he will go look for somebody who can do the job for him if you cannot do it,” he said.
Kumi again disclosed that Zylofon Media paid all of Stonebwoy’s expenses. This he said includes; his trips, recordings and his two major concerts – one at Ashaiman and the other at the National Theatre. He however believes that the Zylofon Media CEO did nothing wrong by signing Shatta since Stonebwoy is not a shareholder of Zylofon.

“He can bring the argument that maybe in his contract, they wrote that he is the one representing Dancehall so they shouldn’t bring somebody else. If you are representing Dancehall, it’s not just about representing but you also have to represent Zylofon. You are an ambassador representing Zylofon, how many times are you hashtagging Zylofon?…this is where our boss also has a problem and he has told you several times, you’ve gone for meetings?”
He admitted that Stonebwoy had made a name for himself before he was signed onto the label alright. But queried whether he can say that Zylofon Media has not contributed anything to his career since he was signed onto the label
“I’m starting to talk because I began this thing. Our boss wouldn’t have been in this industry. I was the one who spoke to him to do it and I wasn’t selfish. I told him to add people on board and then you [Stonebwoy] also are a beneficiary…yes he was Stonebwoy before we met him but can he say that Zylofon has added nothing to him?
You’ve been spoken to and then you’ve been given the opportunity to decide if you still want to be part of us as family…if you want to go also, you decide. For a week now you’ve not responded only for you to do this. Is it that you want to frustrate the investor or you want to frustrate Zylofon,” he questioned.
