Hamamat Montia To Petition Government To Tighten FDA’s Regulations Against Bleaching ads( Video)
Black beauty model and entrepreneur, Hamamat Montia is soliciting for support in order to fight against bleaching creams, toning creams, skin lightening creams as they are mostly referred to now.
This act follows a heavy backlash all over social media last week started by UK- based Ghanaian artist, Fuse ODG on the German personal care company, Nivea, promoting bleaching creams.
The company has however come out with a statement that it develops products with the aim of helping consumers take care of their skin’s health no matter their skin type.
The beauty queen, who took her Instagram handle with videos and messages to highlight on the side effects of using such products also took the opportunity to solicit for signatures of her followers and Ghanaians for that matter which she intends to send to the government officials to tighten the FDA’s regulations on such products.
According to her, the recent reactions of the public towards the ad post has ignited a worldwide conversation on the need to address the negative side effects of these bleaching products.
“…But, it has ignited a worldwide conversation that ” we”- starting with the adults, parents, community leaders, activists, need to address more consciously and assertively the petition against skin lightening and bleaching. The negative effects: kidney and liver failure, skin cancer, hypo pigmentation should be enough to take a stronger stand.”
Hamamat is the Winner of the Miss Malaikai 2006 Beauty Pageant Show. She has been admired and loved by many for her beautiful glowing and spotless dark skin and also referred to as Ghana’s Most Beautiful Model by many.
Hamamat is therefore urging all and sundry to click on the link below to join the fight against these bleaching products in the country.
