Drivers threaten sit-down strike
Members of the Wisdom Drivers Association have threatened to embark on a strike action against the government if fuel prices are not reduced immediately.
According to the drivers, the government increased fuel prices several times during the month of August but they were not allowed to increase transport fares.
This situation, they claim, has plunged them into hardship, for which they are asking the government to reduce the prices of fuel or face their wrath.
Yaw Barima told Accra 100.5 FM’s Chief Jerry Forson on Friday, 8th September that: “There has been a 17.5 per cent increment in fuel prices but we have not been allowed to increase our fares.
“This is worrying and so we are asking President to reduce the fuel prices. He always says he is not in charge or does not determine fuel prices, but we want him to intervene.”
