I Was Once Detained In The US Because Of My Name – Captain Planet
Hiplife musician Captain Planet, of music trio 4×4, has disclosed that he was detained in America on his first visit.
In an interview with Doreen Andoh on Cosmopolitan Mix on Joy FM, Captain Planet, whose real name is Jeff Silvanus Dodji Dovo Negro, shared his experience when he first visited the United States of America.
According to the Suhum-born rapper, he was detained for two hours in the US because of his name.
He explained further that he had to wait for that long while the immigration authority in the United States contacted Ghana to find out if he was truly Ghanaian.
The musician said he was compelled to drop a part of his name to avoid having the same problem subsequently upon his return back to Ghana.
“When I came to Ghana I was so upset I had to take some of the names out,” he said.
Captain Planet also confirmed rumors that his wife is older him.
“My wife is older than me but it doesn’t change anything,” he said
Captain Planet, who is the leader of hiplife trio 4×4, recently released a latest hit ‘Obi Agye Obi Girl’ which features Kofi Kinaata.
Talking about his motivation for his recent track, he said, “My inspiration came from hearing stories of breakups from friends and also, some of them are from movies that I’ve been watching.”
The rapper concluded that he decided to write the song after listening to all these stories.
The track, ‘Obi Agye Obi Girl’ has become an anthem among music lovers less than a month after its release.
