According to him, Ghanaian musicians are only champions within Ghanaian circles. In America however, they are not known by American DJs and presenters.

To hammer his point, Bernard Aduse-Poku cited that Shatta Wale’s songs are enjoyed by only Ghanaians in America and not Americans or other foreigners.

He stated that Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale are no where near Nigerian artiste Mr Eazi. According to him, even the Latinos in America sing and enjoy Mr. Eazi’s songs.

Speaking with Austine Woode on Ultimate Showbizthe Kumawood actor said majority of Nigerian artistes have taken over the music industry internationally.

Mr Aduse-Poku mentioned that he spent five good years in the states. However, in his five years stay there the only Ghanaian song he has ever heard is ‘Adonai’ by Sarkodie and Castro.

He added that Nigerian acts are serious about the marketing aspect of their music but Ghanaian music lacks international publicity.

Bernard Aduse-Poku Speaks;

“In America, you only hear Ghanaian music at Ghanaian parties. You don’t hear Ghanaian songs on prime time radio…You have no idea the Nigerian songs being played during prime time in America. Power FM and they are playing Nigerian music.

Right now Wizkid is a household name in America, whether you like it or not. They play his songs on Power FM, Z-One FM, Hot FM in New York.

These Nigerian artistes have taken the lead. whatever they are doing is working for them. They play Davido, Tecno’s songs on radio during prime time. Even those guys who host afro-centric shows don’t even play Ghanaian songs,’ he said.

He noted that the Ghanaian music is facing marketing crisis, adding that songs produced don’t travel outside of Ghana.

Mr Aduse-Poku advised them to network and not to just visit the US without promoting their songs.

The Kumawood actor entreated Ghanaian musicians to adopt a strategy that would push their songs unto the international market.
