It’s Only Fools Who Are Refusing To Pay TV License -Maurice Ampaw
Lawyer Maurice Ampaw has unleashed his wrath on Ghananains who are against the payment of TV license fees.
According to him, it’s only foolish people who would decide not to pay the TV license fee and instead, have themselves brought before court to face a fine and possible jail term.
Speaking on Kumasi-based Silver FM, the controversial Lawyer implored Ghanaians to pay the fee and be free than to refuse and face the law.
Interview Of Lawyer Maurice Ampaw
“You can’t argue in the law court that, GTV has not been offering you what you like so there is no reason to pay TV license. Therefore instead of paying a small amount why do you prefer to pay more when being sent to court?”, he quizzed.
Lawyer Maurice Ampaw further advised that it will be injudicious for anyone to refuse the payment of the TV license fee considering the cost involved when charged in court for default.
“Even the transportation involved in attending court sessions alone can pay what you refused to”, he added.
“GTV promotes National heritage therefore we must not hesitate to pay the levy. We can only criticize and hold them responsible when we duly pay it,” he argued.
Many Ghanaians have right from day one of the passage of the law kicked against it.
The law has sparked outrage and lot of controversies among many citizens.
More over, the issue was ignited again after the Chief Justice empaneled 10 courts to deal with people who fail to pay the fees.
Meanwhile, musician/Comedian Kwame Asare Obeng, aka A Plus, a strong NPP supporter, has vowed never to pay the TV fee even if it means sentencing him to jail.
He is however not alone as the law has been frowned upon by many socialitess including Lawyers, Lecturers and even some politicians.
