Even Jamaicans Don’t Believe I Am A Ghanaian – Stonebowy
Burniton Music front-liner, Stonebowy says Jamaicans hardly recognize that he’s a Ghanaian whenever he pays a visit to the country, which is considered the hub of dancehall/reggae music.
According to him, he is not so fluent in speaking the English-based creole language, Jamaican Patois. However, most of the natives believe and even say he is even more fluent at it than they are.
‘Tomorrow’ hitmaker further added that as an African rooted into the Jamaican culture, a lot of them seem amazed when he discloses his origin to them.
Stonebowy was speaking with Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM.
“They don’t believe I am outright Ghanaian. I am an African and we know the root culture and vibes, a Jamaican is a Jamaican but then they say I speak Patois than some of them…” he said.
Asked if they laugh at some of the Dancehall artistes who are not at par with him in the Patois language with regards to fluency, Stonebwoy discarded the assertion, saying “they don’t laugh at us; music is a universal language”.
