Speaking to Citi TV‘s AJ Sarpong on Hall of Fame, the ‘Kwani Kwani’ singer intimated: “In Ghana when you do something and someone wants to promote it, hates sets it. Why? Even if the person will come spice the show-up, they won’t bring them because everybody wants to chop alone. That is the problem in our music industry. One man chop. Simple.”

supply theory, he answered that “we create demand.”

I’ve No Qualms If Critics Say I’m Using My Wife’s Nakedness To Further My Music Career – Ben Brako

Highlife Legend, Ben Brako has responded to critics over semi-nude photos of him and his wife shared widely on social media in 2018.

Mr Brako released a seductive half-nude shoot of him and his wife on social media at the latter part of 2018.

Reacting to the semi-nude photos of themselves, The ‘Etue’ hit singer in an interview with

Kasapa Fm’s Kojo Preko Dankwa on Kasapa Entertainment, said many critics vilified him for

posting his wife’s nudity to stay relevant with his music career.

Justifying his like for such nudity which society frowns on in this dispensation, Brako

indicated that he is comfortable with it because their half-nude photos were inspired by tradition.

Making reference to the popular DIPO rite, a Ghanaian traditional festival celebrated by the

people of Odumase in the Eastern region of Ghana, the celebrated icon said he grew up in

various places in Ghana where most women move freely around covering their bodies with just

a piece of cloth and nothing covering their breasts.

According to him, showing certain parts of their body signify how one

should appreciate and respect women and not look at them with disdain.

“Actually the semi-nude picture was inspired by tradition. I remember growing up in various places and you will find out that people live freely especially you will see women dressed with their breast hanging and part of their body is covered with a thin cloth. We grow up with this kind of traditional way of dressing respecting women. It is nothing strange.

“A bit of nudity doesn’t hurt but there is a difference between going semi-nude and going all nude. There is a tasty way of doing things because we are so close to nature.

I try to do something very tasteful and I’m happy that a lot of people appreciate it and a lot are insulting and abusive about it as if that is what makes a person’s character but in reality, how you live your life determines what kind of a person you are.

“My wife and I always take memorable and meaningful pictures. I posted one of my wife’s pictures which was so nice and the reaction from a critic was that I’m using my wife’s nakedness to further my music career but I have no problem about that.” Ben Brako told Kojo Preko Dankwa on Kasapa Entertainment

Ben Brako was born on 20 May 1952 in Accra, Ghana and took an active interest in the music

and entertainment world at a very young age and yet he is one of the few musicians who took his education very seriously.

He had his secondary education at St Augustine’s College in Cape Coast. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Agric Economics from the University of Ghana and also obtained a B.A. (Hons) in Media Communication Studies from the University of East London (1994).

Pat Thomas Never  Spent A Dime On My Music Career – Daughter Reveals

Highlife artiste, Nana Yaa, daughter of Ghanaian High life legend, Pat Thomas has revealed that her father does not deserve any accolade so long as her music career is concerned.

According to Nana Yaa, who is considered as one of Ghana’s fast-rising artistes, her father,

despite all his connections and money didn’t spend a dime on her music career.

Nana Yaa, who was asked during an interview with Amansan Krakye on Radio Central was

asked whether she got it easy in the music industry considering her fathers fame said;

“I want people to know that I didn’t have an easy play because my father is Pat Thomas or that I will have an easy ride or things on a silver platter, no no no, I didn’t get that support from him. I didn’t get that help from him so I had to work. Everything that I am today as an artiste, I din’t get any help from my father”

READ:https://www.ghafla.co.ke/gh/menzgold-saga-affected-brand-stonebowy/

She also added that; “I had hustled as a woman and female artist on my own, by myself and the help of my team to get to where I am today. I don’t want people to have that notion that my father is Pat Thomas so I had it easy, I didn’t get it easy at all, everything is the opposite. I’m still struggling but it’s good because it makes me a strong artiste and someone who appreciates things in life more”

She however admitted that there are some craft traits she inherited from her father.

“The only thing I got from him is my talent though it’s from God, I also got some from my dad. If I’m singing you’ll see me as a female version of my father because certain ways I sing and dance on the stage and the way I jump is like my father. These are the little things I inherited from my father, which I’m grateful for. But a situation whereby he would hold my hand and take me to this person and say my daughter or give me money never happened”.

First Lady Launches ‘Year of Reading’ Campaign

Mrs Rebecca Akufo-Addo, the first lady of Ghana on Tuesday launched the Ghana Year of Reading.

The Ghana Year of Reading is an initiative of the Ghana Library Authority (GhLA), in partnership with other stakeholders, to promote and reignite Ghana’s passion for literature.

She also re-launched the mobile library service for the southern sector of the country, opened the new Acquisition and the expanded Book Processing Unit, and unveiled the various books

and materials that would support the year of reading agenda into the future.

The Year of Reading campaign is also intended to promote literacy and life-long learning among the populace, especially, among school children at the primary and secondary levels.

It was launched under the theme “Reading for Progress”. The GhLA was established in 1950.

Mrs Akufo-Addo said the theme was very appropriate and timely, in that, in a growing

competitive world, life-long learning had become the only way to grow intellectually and build wealth of knowledge.

READ:https://www.ghafla.co.ke/gh/i-am-ready-to-invest-in-the-national-cathedral-ohemaa-mercy/

She said knowledge could only be acquired through reading and so Ghana had no option than

to reignite the reading culture in the country for the progress “we wish for”.

She indicated that studies had also revealed that many children in sub-Saharan Africa struggle

at the lower primary level to read in the official or any local language, and instances where

someone is able to read, they do not understand what they read.

“Its consequences for our development is simply unacceptable. We must build the culture of reading to promote socio-economic and human resource development”

The First Lady noted that the theme also demonstrate the importance of reading, in building

the human capital required for the growth of all sectors of the economy.

She expressed the hope that the activities outlined within the Year of Reading would help

transform the landscape of reading promotion, as well as efforts to bring library services to Ghanaians.

The Rebecca Foundation acknowledged the enormous responsibility on the library authority

and players in the education sector to build a society of readers, and we are committed to our

continuous work with the library authority to make it possible for all Ghanaians to benefit from accessibility to learning resources, she said.

She further stated the Foundation’s launch of the “Read to Learn, Learn to Read” project last

year, with two prone approaches of building libraries and undertaking reading sessions with

children for Television, were parts of efforts to promote reading and learning habit among children.

Mrs Akufo Addo  again announced that very soon, the first library under the Project would be

ready and handed over to the Ghana Library Authority to be part of its network of libraries

around the country, to enable children of the community of Bia in Western region to benefit

from the enormous resources that will be available. “My foundation is committed to supporting

the Library Authority to increase its geographical footprint in the country and will continue to work towards it.

She commended the Ministry of Education, Management and Board of the Ghana Library

Authority, UNICEF and other partners for bringing library back to life in Ghana and the

innovation being introduced to get Ghana reading.

Furthermore, the first lady encouraged the Ministry of Education to incorporate library service

as a critical component of the educational reforms for Basic schools.

“Research has shown the significant role of School libraries in building a reading culture but it’s unfortunate we have not paid particular attention to this particular resource unit when building new schools” the First Lady said.

Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, Deputy Minister of Education said the government was determined to promote a holistic education and was ready to invest in the Library Authority because of the significant role libraries play in the education sector.

He said the Government, in partnership with other stakeholder, would soon unveil new partnerships in the areas of technology that would lead to equipping all libraries in the country with computers and connect them to the world of internet.

Adding further that the declaration of the Year for Reading called for the need to encourage pupils, students, parents and guardians, and all leaders to promote reading.

“We have to promote reading at Schools, at home and at work places. Let’s all join in making Ghana a reading nation”.

Dr Helena Asamoah-Hassan, the Board Chair of Ghana Library Authority, expressed the Authority’s resolve to ensure that all citizens in the 10 region have access to adequate library facilities and technologies that would promote reading culture and increase the knowledge base.

She announced that a total of 725, 751 visitors was recorded in 2010 compared to 428,114 in 2017 showing a patronage increase of 297, 637, representing 69.52 per cent.

Meanwhile, 172, 399 library books were borrowed by users in 2018 compared to 102,222 books

borrowed in 2017, an increase of 70,177 books, representing 68. 55 per cent.

Mr. Hayford Siaw, Acting Executive Director, GhLA, said the year 2019 had been declared the

“Year of Reading” because of the significant role reading plays in knowledge acquisition.

He said efforts were underway to advance the use of technology to make learning resources

available to Ghanaians, and thanked all partners for their support for the library.

Mr Siaw said the Year of Reading would also help in creating an enabling environment for learning across the public library network, improve book collection, increase accessibility to reading materials through technology and introduce new access points for the public to engage with GhLA libraries.

Ms Anne-Claire Dufay, UNICEF Country Representative noted that the 2017/18 Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS) had revealed that only one child out of every five , aged 7 to14years has robust fundamental reading skills.

The MICS survey also reveals that only seven per cent of children in Ghana in the three to five years age-group have access to three or more children’s books at home.

She urged the government, CSOs, the media and other stakeholders to continue to highlight the importance of reading to help create a literacy-rich environment
