Arts And Tourism Writers Association Of Ghana (ATWAG) release a statement over the assault. Over the weekend, three policemen assaulted Sammy Kay, a blogger and producer with the Despite Media group

The statement gives a full account of the incident that happened. Moreover, they stated categorically that they dislike such acts of brutalizes of the police against its members.

It has become necessary, as an association, to react to an incident that happened yesterday at Stonebwoy‘s Bhim Concert. This is about a fracas between ATWAG member, Sammy Kay and some police officers at the concert at 11:26 pm.

ATWAG investigations revealed that Sammy Kay was filming footballer, Asamoah Gyan and television personality, Efia Odo. However, a police officer asked him to stop and delete the video.

Our information is that the order to stop filming and delete the recording did not come from Asamoah Gyan nor his manager.

Sammy Kay, therefore, did not yield to the officer’s orders. Rather, he told him that he had a good relationship with Gyan. Therefore, the footballer would not be bothered if he was filmed.

The police officer still went ahead and attacked Sammy Kay. This led to a scuffle between the policeman (together with his other colleagues) and Sammy Kay, which got the latter injured.

He rushed to the Emergency Ward at the 37 Military Hospital.

Kwame Dadzie, the Public Relations Officer of ATWAG, together with two other media colleagues followed up to the hospital, helped him get a folder, did x-ray and bought some drugs for him.

He was discharged from the hospital around 4 am today (Saturday).

ATWAG, as a professional body, is taking steps to liaise with the employers of Sammy Kay (the Despite Group of Companies) to see how best to handle the matter.

That notwithstanding, the association (ATWAG) condemns acts by civilians or security personnel who have the tendency to either harm or muzzle individuals in the media fraternity.

The attack was unprovoked during our member’s line of work and we condemn it in no uncertain terms.

Reports of police officers brutalizing citizens in their line of duty in recent times have become rampant. Therefore, we would like to call on the government and the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to bring an end to it.

Controversial Ghanaian musician, Kwame A-Plus hails dancehall musician, Shatta Wale. According to him, Shatta is the most influential person in Ghana ever since independence in 1957.

Moreover, he came to this conclusion because of the huge number of fans he saw turn up at Mantse Agbona in James Town, Accra for Shatta Wale‘s concert dubbed ‘Thanksgiving Service’.

In his post declarating Shatta Wale as the most influential person in Ghana he wrote

“No political party in Ghana can pull this crowd if they don’t bus people. Shatta Wale is Ghana’s most influential since independence. If you don’t understand kill yourself. Thanksgiving too like you want make we take gate fee? Thank you Shatta movement. SM is 4lyf. 4lyf is 4lyf. @shattawalenima? Paa paa paa paa paa paa. champioooooon!!!”

The concert was organized by the ‘My Level’ hitmaker and his SM team to appreciate God for the year they have had and repay his fans for their loyalty through the storms this year and helping him to continue to reign.

Actress, Gloria Sarfo talks about the Black Hollywood stars in Accra. Moreover, she expressed her shock as to the exclusion of Ghanaian celebrities from the festival. Ghanaian blogger, Sammy Kay had an altercation with the police. Moreover, this happened during the recently held BHiM Concert. Three men in police uniform beat him up during the concert.

According to Sammy, the policemen beat him because he took a video of footballer Asamoah Gyan at the event. According to the blogger, the policeman whose name he gave as Williams O. Boateng slapped him for taking a video of Baby Jet.

Sammy added that he slapped the policeman back after he received a second punch from him. He further said three other policemen joined Williams O. Boateng to maltreat him. However, he was discharged from the 37 Military hospital after he was given some injections and drugs.

Over the weekend, a young man in a jalabiya dress gifted Stonebwoy $50,000 during his Bhim Concert. The ‘Top Skanka’ hitmaker referred to the man as ‘Alhaji’. The concert happened at the Fantasy Dome

“Sex tourism is not a promotion of promiscuity. What we are saying is, let’s have interracial marriage or relationships. When foreigners come let them like you as a man or woman and when that happens they will tend to continue the relationship with you”

Therefore, it is about time the youth were educated about the advantages and looming opportunities in sex tourism. “There are a lot of foreigners who come here, they like us. However, they can’t say it and we also like them but we also do not tell them, our problem is with the approach” 

Also, he reacted to issues on exploitation. The Kaya Tours CEO said those exploited were only because they lacked requisite education.

“People who have been exploited are those who have not been educated, if you are educated and you know what is at stake for you, you will not allow yourself to be exploited because you have an agenda and aim”

However, the ‘Top Skanka’ hitmaker spoke about it in an interview with Andy Dosty on Hitz FM. Moreover, he stated that he does not owe the said producer any amount of money and that the guy is only trying to tarnish his image.

In the interview, Stonebwoy stated:

“God knows I don’t owe you all, all I did was to give you a big song on your beat and you had to ride on that. This is not the neat way to demand something from me, ask all the big producers what they do and learn from them.”

He added that the guy sent him a message on Instagram and he blocked him. This is because he went around tarnishing his image.

“You came into my Instagram DM and how do you drag my name in the mud. If I unfollow you, how does it hurt you? If you demand anything from me, come in a better way.”

Asked if he will consider settling this in an amicable way with Vacs, Stonebwoy made the point that he’s not interested in an amicable solution since the guy has already sold him out to the public.

Former Black Stars captain, Stephen Appiah shared a sad message. His birthday was 24th December. However, that was a sad day for him too. This was because his mother, Madam Comfort Afua Aidoo died at the age of 73 years, four days to his birthday.

Appiah spoke about it in a post on Instagram. He wrote:

“Today is my birthday and I should be celebrating but instead I’m mourning. Mourning the very person who gives me so much love and joy. For I always see 24th December as a day to celebrate you instead of me because you made it possible. This day was never complete without me showing you how much I love and appreciate all you have done for me.”

The former Juventus and Fenerbahce player therefore canceled the gala to celebrate his birthday today.
