We Need Accountability Because Its Our Money Not Yours – Arnold Baidoo

Entertainment critic and writer, Arnold Asamoah Baidoo vents his displeasure towards the Tourism Minister, Catherine Afeku.

Baidoo made his displeasure known in a Facebook post. Moreover, he stated that Ghanaians have rights to question the state. This is especially when it comes to the money spent on the awards. Therefore, the minister should not describe such a question as lame. He explained that the money the government is spending on the awards is taxpayers money.

Arnold Asamoah Baidoo in the Facebook post said

“STOP PAMPERING THE MINISTER!

On Monday, a bunch of confused stakeholders in the film industry wrote a long letter, cosseting and applauding the Minister for just going about her duties as a Minister. That’s fine!

Yesterday, on Hitz103.9fm, Andy Dosty II queried the Minister on the amount Government committed to AFRIMA. The woman called the question ‘lame’ and the host was disappointingly sluggish in protesting such a slapdash remark.

The money given to AFRIMA (It starts today, anyway) and other related projects in the industry, if not a grant or loan from wherever – is our money, tax payers money and as citizens, it’s our right to know how much and what our monies are being used for.

The money is not for the Minister, so, if she classifies such a question flimsy, don’t respond with an irritating giggle – prod further!

Stop mollycoddling the woman and hold her accountable!”

Ask What You Can Do For Your Country – EL To Shatta Wale

Dancehall act, Shatta Wale a few days ago angered many Ghanaians when he called his

motherland a village in London during his Reign Album Tour performance.

The “My Level” hit maker took his ‘Reign’ album tour to the UK, as he performed at Indigo,

02 in London over the weekend.

Though it was a completely sold out concert, Shatta Wale sparked a bit of controversy when

he referred to Ghana as a village on stage.

Whiles performing his numerous hit songs, the artiste paused and told his fans that they

should disregard any negatives news about him on the internet which emanates from Ghana.

He went further by ordering the fans to repeat after him that “Ghana is a village”, to which

they duly obliged.

“Shatta Wale is a very nice guy, all that you read on Google from Ghana [are not true]. Ghana is village, say Ghana is a village, say village,” he said, as the fans repeated after him.

Many Ghanaians, including his colleague musicians have since taken to the various social

media platforms to express their dislike at the ‘Gringo’ man’s comment.

One of such artistes is rapper EL, born Elom Adablah.

In a tweet, he used a quote by former American President, John F. Kennedy, to advise the dance hall artiste.

“I’ll continue to #GhanaIsAVillage until I start seeing change .., yes I craze .. Wetin better, country wey hospitals no get bed, Roads all spoil,if leader sick either dem fly out or chopper picks them during accidents ,where the ambulances Dey .. We Dey Village stop the nonsense,” he tweeted.

Meanwhile, Shatta who has explained that his reason for calling Ghana a village is premised on

the fact that Ghana is under-developed and the leaders care less about the country’s well-being.

However, EL believes instead of expecting leaders to change the ills of the country, Shatta

Wale should be proactive by taking a step in effecting a change that will benefit Ghana.

“Consider this Dear brother @shattawalegh Ask not what your country can do for you. Rather ask what you can do for your country – JFK,” he wrote.

Pay Me For Using My ‘Bobolebobo’ Song For Your Campaign – Evangelist Tells NDC

One most trending songs currently in Ghana is ‘Wobete Bobolebobo’ by Evangelist I.K. Aning.

The song has won the hearts of most music fans across the country.

However, it seems its not only the ordinary masses who love the song but some political parties also do.

One of such parties is the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The NDC launched different versions of the song at their just-ended 9th National

Delegates Congress held at the International Trade Fair Centre in Accra.

The ‘Wobete Bobolebobo’  crooner is therefore demanding compensation from the party for remixing the song for its campaign purposes.

The Evangelist made this known on the Kumasi Morning Show on Kumasi 104.1FM on Tuesday, 20 November 2018,

According to him, the party did not consult him before using  his song in that manner.

He is therefore insisting that the party compensates him for the illegal use of his intellectual property.

Evangelist Aning told show host, Akwesi Agudey that he does not want to proceed to court

for the matter to be addressed, and for that reason, his managers are at the negotiation

table with the NDC to ensure that he is duly compensated.

The gospel artiste said he went for a loan to promote the song after the producers failed

to help him in that regard.

I Can Only Boil Water – Sister Derby Admits She Sucks At Cooking

Many people have been trying to dig out what actually caused the break-up between

rapper Medikal and his former girlfriend, Deborah Vanessa.

News of their break-up took Ghanaians by surprise few days ago and some fans of both

artistes are still wondering what might have caused the break-up.

The two, though seem to be enemies now, throwing jabs at each other in songs have actually

not made public what caused their one-time romantic relationship to hit the rocks.

Though some fans have attributed the break-up to be because of their age gap, others

feel Medikal probably cheated whiles he was still with Sister Derby.

A few Ghanaians however believe that Sister Derby, who was raised like a foreigner lacks

the basic qualities to qualify as the wife of a black Ghanaian man like Medikal.

Well, it is typical of most black men to look out for what they describe as ‘wife traits’ in women they go out with.

Key among them is the ability of a woman to prepare a well home made food, as they say

the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. Of course some women, including a few

men believe this adage qualifies as archaic, yet majority still hold on onto it.

As such, some reports suggests that one of the reasons Medikal left Sister Derby was because

she (Deborah Vanessa) cannot cook and they have to always buy food from the restaurant.

Meanhwile, Sister Derby in a playback of an interview she granted Delay, literally admitted

she cannot cook and the best she can do is boil water.

“I can boil water”, she told the host when asked what food can you cook in the interview that we transcribed

Asked if she can be a responsible wife and if it is not wasting marrying someone like her she would be a very good wife to any man who walks down the aisle with her.

“Of course! Very lovely and caring…I can boil water”, she stated.

Meanwhile, Fella Makafui, Medikal’s new found love is reportedly a very good cook who could win the heart of any man who eats her food.

Ghanaian artiste, Captain Planet, real name Jeff Silvanus Dodji Dovo Negro has debunked

rumors associating him with the wife of Black Stars skipper Asamoah Gyan.

“I’ve not even spoken to that lady before. I’ve been trying for like a month now. I’ve been ignoring those because first of all it’s not coming from Asamoah Gyan, I’ve not heard anything from him. People are just doing it,” he told KOD on ‘The Zone’ Tuesday.

He recounted:

“I’ve seen her, we used to live in the same area. It was even my cousin Lucy she has this nail shop so I was there eating waakye and the girl walks in and my cousin Lucy said that’s Asamoah Gyan’s wife. That was the first day; like 2009, like 10 years ago.”

When asked about his relationship with the footballer, he said: “Me and him are cool, he was one of the people that made my song ‘obi agye obi girl’ very popular. Me and Asamoah Gyang we have a personal relationship, we talk, sometimes I call him we chat and all those things.

I haven’t heard anything from him so I was like I don’t think he is the one even doing this, why am I going to even commit myself asking him about all these things.”

He further noted: “I spoke to my lawyer, he was like don’t say anything because it’s not coming from Asamoah Gyan, I’ve not heard anything from him, so I want to hear from whoever is saying that“.

Captain Planet further revealed that his wife asked him about the rumors and he had to explain everything to her.

He cautioned carriers of the rumors saying; “I don’t know whoever is behind it, but whoever it is please stop this rubbish, I don’t even have any communication with this woman, I have never spoken with this woman before. Another thing is I don ’t date married people.”

Ghanaian Musicians Need To Support Each Other – Nana Yaa

Ghanaian musician, Nana Yaa talks about the music industry. According to her, Ghana’s music industry is stagnant. This is because the country’s artistes don’t support one another

Moreover, she indicated that Ghanaian musicians support when you’re in their clique. She further describes the situation as unfavourable.

Nana Yaa made these statementse in an interview with NEWS-ONE. Also, she called on Ghanaians to support their own in order to foster the growth of the industry.

Nana Yaa about support in the music industry

“It is really important as Ghanaians to support each other because I have seen that we don’t really support each other. I mean I can use myself as an example, I don’t know if I am allowed to say this but it’s like who you know. It’s like a clique, if you are not in that click then you are not going to be supported. But it shouldn’t be like that because our neighbouring countries like Nigeria, for example, they reach out to each other. I am sure we will get there. It’s a good cause; we support each other”

“We can’t grow as a music industry if we don’t support each other the way we are supposed to. I mean it’s a game and competition but at the end of the day we all want one thing; the betterment of music in Ghana. So we have to support each other. When it gets to the time when we have to play the game we play it and still show love to one another”

Also, she revealed that her colleagues in the music business don’t support her

“So many of the artistes know me and they know I have been in the industry for a while now and if they see me in town they are always like hey Nana I heard this your new jam. However, they won’t post about it on social media. They won’t support it”

Blame Gospel Musicians For “God Bless You” Payment – Mike 2

Adom FM’s entertainment host, Mike 2 talks about gospel musicians. He stated that Ghanaian gospel musicians are to blame for non payment of shows. This is when they play for event organizers and men of God in the various chapels.

Moreover, Mike stressed that the musicians sold themselves cheaply from day one. This is because they tell people that they are into the gospel industry to win souls for Christ.

Therefore, this assertion by many of these musicians makes them seen as “Father Christmas” who will do things for free.

“The gospel musicians have been cheating themselves, and pastors always say God bless you after their performances. They have made themselves low, they go for interviews and when asked whether they mean profit making, these musicians will cheaply say big no. However, they win souls for Christ through music”

Recently, Minister Francis Amo was upset about how some church leaders treat gospel musicians. He indicated how difficult and expensive it is to keep a brand relevant.

He further stated that it was time they took a careful look at the business aspect of the music job

“Because people are not buying the CDs, shows have been paying but these people will tell you they don’t charge but will accept whatever reasonable money because they are singing to win souls for Christ but not to make business for profit. Forgetting about the business aspect of it and the cost incurred to produce the album, are they serious at all?”

“This is the only time I will

address this situation and I won’t go into detail! My dear @queenafiaschwarzenegger , regardless of everything that has transpired between me and you, I love you as a strong woman that doesn’t conform to society and men! Moreso because I have see you stand up to men that want to belittle and abuse women!

I was abused by a man who was in denial that I left him because I found out that he was married and I refused to continue the relationship we were in, after his wife called me to narrate everything to me. When the man that sent you the picture of my brutally beaten face, my wish was that you ask him What kind of man take joy and pleasure for doing such a heinous act and then send to people?

Why does he want me to take the case out of court by reaching out to soo many respectable people? Why is he offering me things to end this matter in court? I will let the laws of the country take care of the rest!! I know there are lots of victims like me being abused emotionally and physically every single day but are scared to speak out just because of what society will say.

There’s this negative stigma to people in the entertainment industry especially women. People perceive us to be evil and money hungry but deep down lots of us have hearts of gold. There are thousands of ladies being abused daily. This is a PROBLEM! I’m not ashamed of this picture at all. This picture is a reflection of our world today and the plight women go through every day. I went through this 4 years ago and by the Lords grace, look at me now. I have favor with the Lord and living my best life!!!”
