I Was A Puppet Under My Former ‘Sponsor’ – King Promise

Fast-rising singer, King Promise reacts to claims by Yasmin. According to him , he stated that he was a “puppet” under his former sponsor.

The singer said the Dubai-based businesswoman Yasmin Behzadi treated him as a puppet. This was under the contract that bounded both of them.

He added that Yasmin once referred to him as a “waste product”.

Yasmin Behzadi claimed she spent a whopping $150,000 on the singer’s career.

According to her, she sponsored a high budget music video, recording sessions, travelling expenses, promotions.

However, the singer’s management released a statement to clarify the issue.

“It is instructive to note that Yasmin has not invested a dime in any of King Promise’ recent projects (Songs) and so her claim of spending $150000 is preposterous and smacks of an individual with the intent to reap what she has not sown.

“There were countless times King Promise was refused from working on features with artistes because Yasmin had issues with them”.

“Yasmin gave up along the line when her financial expectations were not being met, to the extent of calling King Promise ‘a waste product’. It was at this point that Killbeatz, signed King Promise onto his Legacy Life Entertainment Label and started everything at fresh. Killbeatz enlightened King Promise about the music business and supported him into releasing all his hit songs till date. These include but not limited to, ‘Double Trouble’, ‘Oh Yeah’, ‘Hey Sexy’, ‘Selfish’”.

Why Ghanaian Movies Don’t Gain Global Awards

Radio presenter, Akosua Sekyibea Agyewodin talks about Ghanaian movies. Moreover, she spoke about the reason Ghanaian movies don’t get the much-needed recognition from global film awards and festivals.

According to the host of Mid-morning on Accra based Ahotor FM, the major reason is that most of the movies do not have as much local language content.  Furthermore, this is a requirement to enter the Foreign Film categories at most of the world’s biggest award shows.

She made these statements while speaking on Lark TV.

“We need to understand what this category is about and the criteria for entry. Movies in this category are to have rich cultural elements which must reflect in the language, story, music and all other elements present in the film”

“Although, things are getting better now, hopefully, will get a slot soon. The right film must have at least 51% local language content to be accepted into the Foreign Language Film category.”

Anas Shares Views On ‘Beefs’ In The Ghanaian Showbiz Industry

World-renowned investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas has for the first time shared

his view about the Ghanaian music industry.

The ace investigative journalist has in various interviews revealed that he was a huge fan

of Reggae music and that he gets most of his inspirations from listening to reggae songs.

Sharing his views about Ghana’s entertainment, Anas spoke about artistes ‘beefing’ with each other in the industry.

Anas who was speaking at the maiden launch of Politics and Power Magazine when asked what he thinks about beefs in the industry stated that he loved the “beefs” in the music industry and wished to wake up in the morning to hear about one artiste fighting the other.

“Oh well —to be honest, I love the beef. I don’t have any side. I love to get up in the morning and hear that Sarkodie is fighting with M.anifest. It’s just lovely. Because, knowing Sarkodie and knowing M.anifest, they won’t pick knives.

It is just the beauty of our country. When you wake up and you hear Wale and Stonebwoy, and Wale and Samini, it is beautiful. Because I know no matter what you say Wale is, he will never take a knife to stab Samini. Samini will definitely not say ‘I’m killing my brother Wale,’ neither will Stonebwoy do that. Let’s keep people talking.

Let’s keep people saying whatever they want to say, but at the end of the day, we are brothers. We will all push the frontiers of our democracy. There are places that I can reach that Shatta Wale will never reach. There are places that Shatta Wale will reach I will spend 100 hundred years but will never reach. We all have our unique strengths. The most important thing is to create a synergy between these energies to push the frontiers together.

That is why I was so happy when, in the wake of #Number12, there was a musical concert. Sometimes we should just pause and look at the other beautiful things about life, and remind ourselves that at the end of the day, you will die —so you don’t carry certain things to great ends —that ‘my aim is to kill.’ I’m saying that all of us who make the noise out there—at the end of the day, it’s the same food we eat, it’s the same people we are with. It’s just the disagreement in ideology—and if it comes to music, the disagreement is about who is a star and who is not.

Apart from that, when it is Sarkodie’s wedding, we will all go. When Shatta Wale decides to marry Michy, we will go. Such is life, and in spite of our busy schedules, we should make time for these things because they shape us as a people”
