Add Money To Award Plaques , Stonebowy, Samini Appeal To Organizers Of AFRIMA

Dancehall giants, Samini and Stonebowy have sent an appeal to organizers of All Africa Music Awards(AFRIMA).

According to both artistes, adding something substantial to the award will give the scheme “more weight” and will encourage artistes to give out their best in order to be recognized by the scheme.

They made this known when the scheme was been launched on September 19.

Stonebwoy in a short speech said;

“We will take advantage of that to showcase our innate to the world. We are grateful and we couldn’t ask for any less but ibi like you for add block to the award”.

Samini in supporting his “son” also added that;

“we are eyeing the trophy. It is right here can I hold it? I want to see how heavy it is. So to add to what Stonebwoy said, it will be nice to have something attached to this otherwise we knowing this is gold and we feeling the weight, we don’t want to be tempted to melt it ooo”.

Winners of the award will go home with a plaque with 23.9 carats of gold for this year’s award.

Paulina Oduro Goes After Media For Hyping Supa

Paulina Oduro questions the media on their practices.

Currently, a Nima boy Supa aka Ghana 2pac is trending a lot for some absurd and weird reasons.

Therefore, high-life sensation, actress and talent show judge, Paulina Oduro labels him as talent-less. She labeled him as the latest social media sensation, so Ghanaians are wasting their time hyping him.

Ever since, his emergence, several people wonder why the hype.

She made these statements as a pundit on Zylofon FM’s ‘Showbiz Agenda’. She stated that Supa cannot be deemed a musician or any relevant person in the music industry. Therefore, she can not fathom why the media and a section of Ghanaians hype him.

She added that she doesn’t know why suddenly there is all the buzz after “this wee smoker”. Also, she quizzed the media on why they are hyping Supa because she sees that as needless and sees nothing special about him.

2016 VGMA Trolls Got Me Depressed – Pappy Kojo

Rapper, Pappy Kojo has disclosed that he was really depressed after he was highly trolled after the 2016 VGMAs.

The ‘Akwaaba’ rapper was trolled for not winning a single out of the numerous nominations he earned.

Many social media users therefore trolled him over this and Pappy says their trolls took a turn on him.

Pappy  who was speaking in an interview on the Delay Show said his silence after releasing just

a few songs was not because he came to the music scene for his “National Service” like social

media users have been saying.

According to him, he was depressed and needed time off for himself to get well before he could come out.

The “Realer No” hitmaker mentioned that people expect artistes in Ghana to be great but there

are no such structures to make them great and that has been a bane for artistes in Ghana.

Ghanaians Are Suffering – Shatta Wale

Dancehall artist, Shatta Wale says Ghana is becoming “very hot” under the current NNP government.

According to the ‘Ayoo’ hitmaker, many Ghanaians  suffering every single day due to the collapse of businesses and loss of jobs under the presidency of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

The dancehall icon further stated that the economic hardship is putting a lot of stress on

Ghanaians to the extent that they are gradually overlooking the excitement in the music

industry as most of his fans are not aware of the many songs he has released recently.

“This time I’m even releasing more songs but people are not even aware. I’m just trying to make people take their minds off certain things. I’m trying to put controversial stuff in the industry for Ghana to be interesting but the country is becoming hotter and hotter each and every day,” he said in an interview on Luv 99.5 FM.

He also observed how the hardship is forcing many of the youth to venture into risky means of making a living including armed robbery and fraud.

“I beg the president to do something. Ghanaians are suffering too much. I just want to say this on air for him to know that I also care about the country. Shatta Wale continues his talk against his colleagues in the music industry.

Dancehall artist, Shatta Wale talks about Sarkodie and Kwaw Kese. According to him, these artistes are poor and that is the reason behind the hate.

He made these statements in an interview with DJ Reuben on Luv FM in Kumasi.

Marriage Has Made Me Responsible – Stonebwoy

Dancehall musician, Stonebowy, has revealed that the saying that marriage changes people is very true.

Stonebowy, in an interview with Graphic Showbiz stated that he has become responsible after he got married to his wife, Louisa a year ago.

“Marriage has changed me totally. I have become more responsible because there

are things I did when I was single but I do them no more as a married man.”

According to the ‘My Name’ hitmaker, he doesn’t stay out late and hardly spends on

anything which is not relevant because he has a wife and a kid to take care of.

He further added he has no regrets or whatsoever marrying her.

“I was so sure it was her. The first time I met her at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology(KNUST), I just knew she was going to be my wife.

“I quickly told my manager she was going to be my wife and there she is as my lovely wife,” he revealed.

Ghana Will Import Marijuana From America In 20 Years Time If Not Legalised Now ─ Kwesi Pratt

The debate for legalization of marijuana still rages on. This continues after South Africa legalised the use and cultivation of the plan.

Musicians such as Samini, Kwaw Kese, Blakk Rasta and the likes advocate for the legalisation of “Wee”. Their reasons are that it would boost Ghana’s economy.

Moreover, popular political analyst, Kwesi Pratt shares his opinion on the issue on whether the illicit drug should be legalised in the country or not.

Pratt spoke about this when he appeared on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” Morning Show with Kwame Sefa-Kayi. He stated that Ghanaian leaders should open their minds and think deeply on the issue of the legalisation.

Also, he explained the economic importance of Marijuana. He indicated that the illicit drug isn’t only for smoking purposes and that Ghanaian leaders should rethink its legalisation.

He stated that if our leaders do not open their minds and see the economic impacts the legalisation of Marijuana will have on Ghana’s economy, then Ghana is likely to import Marijuana from the United States in some 20 years to come.

‘Ghanaians’ Love For Dancehall Is Killing Highlife’ – Bisa Kdei

Renowned contemporary High-life artiste Bisa Kdei has  expressed great worries over the degenerating nature of Ghana’s High-life.

Bisa believes that the massive love for dancehall genre by Ghanaians is what is killing the Highlife genre.

High-life music genre is the heartbeat of Ghana music. Thus, Ghanaians gave birth to the this genre, therefore, there’s the need for them to put strategic measures in place to protect and develop rapidly the indigenous genre.

“Highlife is struggling as far as Ghanaians continue to give much attention to foreign genres especially Dancehall.

Morgan Heritage Arrives In Ghana For Video Shoot With Stonebwoy, Diamond Platnumz

International award winning music group, Morgan Heritage is currently in Ghana for a video

shoot session with dancehall act Stonebowy and Diamond Platnumz.

The 2016 Grammy Winners for “Best Reggae Album” safely touched down in Ghana on the

night of Tuesday, September 18, 2018.

The Group Members, Peetah Morgan, Gramps Morgan & Mojo Morgan are in Ghana for the

official unveiling of “Ghana Jamaica Homecoming Festival” Ambassadors at a press briefing

this week in Accra.

The group is also in Ghana to shoot a new music video with Stonebwoy and Diamond Platnumz.

The unreleased song is in lieu with efforts to project the Ghana Jamaica Homecoming Festival to the world.

Background

The Ghana-Jamaica Homecoming Festival seeks to identify and align with Jamaica as

a gateway to the Caribbean Countries and vice versa.

Amongst others, we are also seeking to bridge the gap between Ghanaian and Jamaican music

through the Gramps Morgan Music Clinic which is geared towards capacity building in music

business training, promotions, marketing and record label management.

The “Ghana Jamaica Homecoming Festival” is an initiative by Broadway Entertainment in

collaboration with Dada Son Entertainment, JahMikal Entertainment Limited and other

stakeholders; it was launched in July 2018.

This Friday’s event would see the official unveiling of Ambassadors for the festival,

due to stage annually with lined up activities.

The GHANA-JAMAICA HOMECOMING FESTIVAL is geared towards promoting Music,

Tourism, Investments, Music, Sports and Cultural Exchange in the two principal countries

and by extension the Caribbean Countries and Africa at large.
