DKB Explains His Failed Comedy Set

Comedian, DKB explains his failure to make patrons laugh at the second edition of Glo’s Laffta Fest.

According to him, the comedian who performed before him extracted all the laughter out of the audience.

Therefore, he apologised to the audience for not lifting up his game on the night.

According to reports, all the jokes he shared were unimpressive and some of the patrons booed him.

He explained what happened on the night on Hitz @1 on Hitz FM. Acccording to him, Dan D Humurous, who performed before him, exceeded his time of performance. Therefore, this made the audience tired.

DKB talks about his performance and tiredness of audience

“I always respect the opinion of the audience. I try to appreciate the fact that they made an effort to come and see me perform but unfortunately, it didn’t go as planned. They were laughing but the standard of response I was expecting, I didn’t get it.”

“I’m the type who doesn’t like sharing blame. I always believe that I’m responsible for the spot I’m given and have to take full charge of it but what happened was that, the comedian before me overstayed his time twice. He stayed for a pretty long time so he drained the laughter out of the audience so when I came in, it looked like the people were sort of tired.”

“The energy was a bit low. However, at the end of the day, I was given that spot as a comedian. Therefore, I must be a magician and that’s why I decided to apologize to the audience.”

Also, the comedian denied reports that the audience booed him offstage hence his apology to the audience.

“No no, nobody booed. When I noticed the energy was not coming as expected, it got me a little anxious on stage, I had some serious anxiety. I felt pressed and pressured so I decided to call the elephant in the room (by asking what the problem was) and it gave some people the opportunity to boo but I shut them up.”

Pay ‘Payola’ To DJs – Cecilia Marfo

Gospel musician, Cecelia Marfo has advised her colleagues to pay ‘payola’ to DJs.

‘Payola’ is simply a coinage for money giving by artistes to DJ’s to play their songs on air.

According to the ‘Afunumu Ba’ singer, there’s nothing wrong with musicians giving what is due to DJ’s.

Cecelia Marfo was speaking in an interview with DJ Advicer on Happy FM’s ‘Ayekoo After Drive’ show.

“The Bible says pay the labourer you hire. As for DJs you ought to help them. It’s true the station might not be theirs but some of them are not even paid that well at the end of the month and some also take good salaries whiles others are just venturing into it.” She said.

READ: https://www.ghafla.co.ke/gh/4580-38/

“Having made your song, you should grease their palms a bit to make them feel pampered. It’s not like they just take the ‘payola’ to spend your money.

The bible says to pay the labourer you hire, so when DJs play your songs, give them what is due them. Doing that for them is like doing it for God. Personally I do that because you can’t take your music to DJs and leave them just like that,” she added.

Not long ago ‘Osey’ hitmaker Nero X also said musicians must show appreciation to DJs in the form of ‘payola’.

Ohenewaa Agyemang, a London based gospel musician also stated that ‘payola’ should be legalized.

In recent times, Ghanaian artistes are fervently advocating for radio and tv stations to play more of their songs than foreign ones.

Perhaps Cecelia Marfo and the others may be right about this since it’s the DJ’s and tv hosts that are in charge of playing songs on air or on TV.

He stressed that he is particular about lyrics of songs he adds his signature to.

“I don’t put my energy and gravity on anything just like that. Let’s be real???????????????? – Stonebwoy!! #stonebwoynews #TOPSKANKA #BhimNationGlobal,” he added.

The two dancehall artistes have been throwing jabs at each other every now and then over claims by Shatta Wale that Stonebwoy killed his mother for a ritual to become famous.
