Actress Paulina Oduro Slams Ghanaian Dancehall Artistes, Says They Don’t Know The Differences Between Reggae And Dancehall

Ghanaian actress and veteran high-life musician, Paulina Oduro expresses dissatisfaction towards Ghanaian dancehall artistes.

She made these statements on Zylofon FM’s Showbiz Agenda show. Also, the musician is a Judge in Talented Kids reality show. Furthermore, she expressed that some Ghanaian dancehall artistes know nothing about dance-hall music. However, they the claim to be doing dancehall.

Moreover, she added that each time she hears such so-called dance-hall kinds of music from these artistes she feels like cringing.

“I cringe when I hear some of the so-called dance-hall artistes. It is not that I don’t like it. However, do Ghanaians know what dance-hall means?”

She continued to express herself. Also, she revealed that she was brought up in Jamaica and once married a Jamaican. Therefore, she really understands what dancehall means unlike what these artistes are doing here in Ghana.

“As an elderly person I get very angry when I hear some of the lyrics these dance-hall artistes are coming up with…they don’t know the difference, they don’t know what they’re saying. Find out the meaning of the lyrics before you say them.”

Government Agrees To Halt GFA Dissolution After FIFA’s Threat To Ban Ghana

A delegation from the Ghana government met with a FIFA delegation in Zurich. Furthermore, they both agreed to halt the court process to dissolve the Ghana Football Association.

Moreover, the meeting follows a threat from FIFA. They told Ghana to halt the court case to dissolve the GFA or face a ban from international football.

Therefore, in the wake of the threat, the government and FIFA agreed to meet to find a way forward. Also, following the meeting, both parties released a joint statement. The meeting reached other resolutions, including dissolving the Executive Committee of the FA and forming a normalization committee to run Ghana football in the interim.

Ghana’s delegation to the meeting included Youth and Sports Minister Isaac Asiamah, Deputy Chief of Staff Abu Jinapor, Deputy AG Godfred Dame and Dr Kofi Amoah, head of the Liason Team currently in place to oversee Ghana Football. Fifa’s delegation included President Gianni Infantino and General Secretary, Fatma Samoura, among others.

MTN Launches Hitmaker Season 7

Ghana’s number one Mobile Telecommunications Network (MTN), has launched its 7th season of Hitmaker reality show.

Speaking at the launch held in Accra on Thursday, August 16, 2018, Guido Sopiimeh, Acting Chief Marketing Officer

for MTN Ghana, said the show has helped improve lives of several unacknowledged musicians and their audiences.

He also established that through the Hitmaker series, musicians such as Kidi, Kurl Songx, Koo Ntakra Naterial,

Togbe, Kwame Eugene and others have been able to flourish in the Ghanaian Music Industry.

According to him, these ‘Hitmakers’ had made significant progress as a result of the GH¢100,000.00 cash award for

the launch of their album which includes recording, music video production and promotion of their song.

This would enable the search for the talents and also create a platform for contestants to interact with their fans.

The launch was graced with personalities from the entertainment fraternity.

There were also performances from former contestants, winners of preceding editions.

Freda Rymz who is the immediate past winner for MTN Hitmaker season 6 also gave an electrifying performance.

The popular reality TV show is aimed at giving authentic, talented and potential singers and rappers a platform to

build upon themselves and be ready for the music industry.

5-Year-Old Swiss-Ghanaian Actress Wins Hollywood Award

Child actress, Lina Prior has made her countries proud when she emerged winner at the recently held ‘The Celebrity Experience’ event.

The event came off at Universal Studios in Hollywood, California.

The 5-year-old actress walked away as the winner of the ‘TCE Best Kid Commercial Look’

for her excellent performance in the 7-day talent program.

I Laughed Over Claims Zylofon CEO Sacked Me – Bulldog

Artiste & Repertoire Manager at Zylofon Media, Bulldog, says he wasn’t disturbed by reports claiming he has been fired by Nana Appiah Mensah, CEO of Zylofon Media.

News of Nana Appiah sacking Bulldog, born Lawrence Nana Asiamah Hanson went strife on social media some

weeks ago.

According to the reports, Nana Appiah had given a sack letter to Bulldog, asking him to bring back any property in

his care belonging to the company.

However, Bulldog in an interview on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM Thursday, said he finds it difficult to fathom why his

“dismissal” would be such a big story for some people.

According to him, he did nothing but to laugh at those making the claims since he has no issues with his boss.

“If I was fired what be the problem? Boys take the thing World cup. Boys wan pull me down. When the issue came up I laughed.

There is no way you will shake Nana Appiah’s hands and you will not be blessed…[sic]” he told show host, Andy Dosty.

Meanwhile Nana Appiah himself through a tweet debunked such reports. He however confirmed that Bulldog is still carrying out his duties at his outfit.

 

Lil-Win Says He Is Ready To Face “Ungrateful” Andy In Court

Actor and musician, Kwadwo Nkansah Lil-Win states that his lawyers are ready to face his colleague, Andy Odarky. Moreover, this is because Andy threatened to slap him with a lawsuit.

Furthermore, Andy Odarky in an earlier interview on Zylofon FM threatened to take a legal action against Lil Win. This is because he claims Nkansah claimed a song that belonged to him.

Also, Kwadwo Nkansah had an interview with Sammy Flex on Zylofon FM’s Showbiz Agenda. The actor disclosed that Andy is being ungrateful. This is because he bailed Andy out when he was busted by police for drug possession.

“I was at home when I was informed of his arrest. I had to pay a whopping sum of 1,500 cedis to bail him out.”

Lil-Wil has dared Andy that, if he says he is going to take legal actions against him then he, (Lil Win) is ever ready to face him in the court of justice.

“I have three lawyers, If you claim the song is for you, I’m ready to face you in court. He should bring paperwork which proves that he paid me for the song. I know for a fact that the song is mine.” 

I Never Imagined Collaborating With Sarkodie, Mugeez – King Promise

Musician King Promise says he never imagined in his wildest dreams he could have a collaboration with two Ghanaian top notch artistes, Sarkodie and Mugeez of R2Bees fame.

According to King Promise, born Gregory Bortey Newman, it was there a surprise and a dream come true for him when the two artistes featured on his “CCTV” song.

Speaking in an interview with Jerry Justice on Adom FM’s Drive Time show “Ofie Kwanso”, King Promise disclosed that Sarkodie gave his verse a few days after a meeting with him.

Narrating the events that led to them featuring on the song, the “Selfish” hitmaker said the initial plan was to sing and own the song.

However,  Mugeez walked into engineer Killbeatz’s studio and featured on the song.

“I was gonna take a break from the studio and Mugeez walked in and jumped on the song. Later we thought about putting Sark on the song. I never imagined doing a song with these two artistes. I was supposed to see Sark so he gave his verse after listening to it. He is super busy so he did it quickly…” King Promise told Jerry Justice.

Lilwin Is Claiming Ownership Of My Song – Andy Odarky

Andy Odarky of TV3’s Mentor 1 fame has accused Ghanaian actor and musician, Kwadowo Nkansah LilWin of claiming ownership of his song, ‘Ayeyi”.

Andy, who is the CEO and founder of Firehouse Music released a press statement two days ago.

In the press statement, Andy threatened to drag the Lil Win and his team at Weezy Empire to court, if the right thing is not done.

According to the press release, Andy is the writer of the song. But the circulating single has captured Lil Win as the owner, featuring Andy.

Furthermore, Andy maintained his claim for ownership of the song in an interview with Sammy Flex of Zylofon FM’s Showbiz Agenda.

“I am the owner of the Ayeyi song. Lil Win does not know how to compose songs so he should stop claiming my song”, he stated.

Odarky explained that, “Ayeyi” was recorded when preparations to be signed on by Weezy empire was underway.

Andy added that, his signing onto the label could not come off because of an indifference between himself and Lil Win.

Hence, since the signing could not come off, the song does not belong to Weezy empire.

In that regards, Lilwin and his Weezy empire record label have no right to release it without my approval.

“We had a misunderstanding so the signing could not hold, hence, my song comes to my label. He has released an audio and a video without my consent”, he added.

Singer cum humanitarian, Michelle Diamond Gboganah, best known as Shatta Michy says, Ghanaians are not taking her new image seriously.

In an interview with Graphic Showbiz, Michy had this to say about her new personality:

“I know people miss the old Michy and wonder what has happened to her. You know, that girl used to reveal flesh but today she is still sexy but covered up. The truth is I have grown up, I have matured and there are some things I will not do now”, she said.

“Can you believe I shared the video of the woman who got beaten by a police officer at Midland Savings on social media and I got just a few likes?

“But for example, a picture of me half naked and doing something controversial on my page will fetch me thousands of likes.

“I even posted a picture depicting my women empowerment project and got just 5k likes and I was like,’is this really my page’ because on a regular basis, I get about 50k likes on a post,” she said.

She continued, “I think don’t Ghanaians like serious things. They prefer controversies and scandals. I want them to support me and my new brand because I really want to get the message out there, so I need help and support.

The ‘Cheating’ singer also expatiated the mission of her women empowerment initiative.

“My women empowerment project dubbed SM Women Empowerment is real and I intend pushing it to break boundaries.

“It seeks not to only render financial help to young women but also to give them the needed

encouragement to make decisions that will yield something profitable in future for them and not allow

the challenges of life to swallow them.

”I am doing this because I see how women, especially the young ones struggle through life and are lost

as to what to do although they really want to achieve something.

“The truth is that, from my experience when I was running my pub, I realised a lot of girls had no goals

and that also played a role in me taking up the new Michy.

“Women’s voices need to be heard and that is why I am interested in this project, in the hopes of

empowering women to believe in themselves and fight for what they want,” she stated.

Bullet Wanted To Resurrect Ebony – Ebony’s Father

The argument between the late Ebony Reigns’ manager, Ricky Agyemang aka Bullet, and her father, Nana Poku Kwarteng is still fresh and ongoing.

The two factions have been at loggerheads on almost everything since the death of Ebony in February this year.

Both of them have been heard constantly throwing jabs and banters in the media and accusing each other of greed.

In a recent interview however, Nana Poku has said that upon the death of Ebony, Bullet told him he could help resurrect her.

According to Mr. Kwarteng, Bullet came to him and told him he had a pastor who could resurrect the young songstress.

In the latest episode of their media war, the father of the late songstress made a series of allegations against Bullet.

It however seems the ‘war’ between the two personalities will not end anytime soon as Mr. Kwarteng embarks on a

I Would Love To Work With Rocky Dawuni And Black Prophet — Samini

Ghanaian Dancehall/Reggae artiste, Samini expresses his interest in doing music with popular Reggae artistes, Black Prophet and Rocky Dawuni.

The singer disclosed this during an interview on Kasapa FM’s “Di Wu Lane Mu” Show with host Kwame Bee.

Moreover, he stated that when you talk about pure Reggae music in Ghana, you cannot say it without mentioning the likes of Rocky and Black Prophet. Therefore, that is the reason for his interest in bringing them on his album.

Comedian Foster Romanus Booed Off Stage At The Glo Laffta Fest

The Glo Laffta Fest came off on Sunday night at the Fantasy Dome of the Trade Fair Centre in Accra. However, the event was nearly marred when the Ghanaian comedian, Foster Romanus took his turn on stage.

Moreover, he started out well enough, exhibiting his singing prowess and taking off with some good joke. However, he made a joke about how almost all Nigerians are armed robbers.

The joke did not go down well with the entire crowd. Both the Ghanaians and Nigerians booed him and refused to laugh at the joke. Also, some people in the audience shouted ‘away’. Therefore, the comedian had no option than to exit the stage as the booing and heckling became quite unbearable.

The Glo Laffta Fest brought together some of the finest comedians in Ghana, Nigeria and Uganda. They ensured that the night was memorable for the patrons.

The only downside of the show was with Foster. However, the other comedians at the Glo Laffta Fest put up great performances and gave the audience plenty to laugh at.

Burial Date Of The Late Nana Turkson Revealed

Renowned entertainment pundit, Bertrand Nigel Turkson, affectionately called Nana Turkson passed away a week ago. His death shocked many in the entertainment and media circles.

Until his death, Nana Turkson was known for his display of in-depth knowledge on several topics, and spot-on analysis on issues pertaining to entertainment in Ghana especially.

Many media practitioners and entertainment pundits proceeded to the Kwashieman Park in solidarity and to observe the one week memorial together with family, friends and sympathizers yesterday.

The family revealed that there would be a burial service in memory of him at the St. Luke Park, Kwashieman on August 31st, followed by a thanksgiving service on Sunday, September 1 at the St. Luke Anglican Church, also at Kwashieman.

The author’s sad demise occurred at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital August 7 after suffering a short illness. He left behind a wife and 3 children.

I Gained More Fans Singing With Rapper Asem – Lady Prempeh

Lady Prempeh talks about collaborating with Asem.

Ghanaian gospel singer, Lady Prempeh collaborated with rapper Asem about 10 years ago. Moreover, she received several criticisms for that collaboration. However, she believes it was a blessing to her music career.

Furthermore, she recounted how fellow gospel artistes attacked and ridiculed her for the collaboration.

That notwithstanding, she says the feature inreased her fanbase.

“Asem was very popular then, and I believed doing collaboration with him at that time would bring gospel music to a wider youth audience. The song became very popular, but I had a lot of back lash from people who I thought would support me. Despite that, I carried on promoting and gained more fans.” 

Furthermore, she stated that if one has a good heart and mind towards what they do, they would succeed.

“If you are a musician you should be able to do any sort of music. Since I took that step many years ago I have noticed that a lot of artistes both gospel and circular like the missing Castro, Sarkodie, Nacee, Herty Borngreat, Nero X and others are also doing similar things.”

“I know I wasn’t the first musicians to have done a song with a secular artiste but I faced a lot of pressure and had to overcome a lot at the time I took that step.”
