Afia Schwarzenegger Made Me Suicidal – Joyce Dzidzor Mensah

Joyce Dzidzor talks about depression and her tenure as HIV/AIDS ambassador.

Former HIV/AIDs Ambassador, Joyce Dzidzor Mensah, says her recent suicide threat on Facebook was not to court public sympathy.

This is because she suffered depression for sometime now. Also, she contemplated suicide twice; the first being in Germany, after the birth of her third child.

She spoke about all these in an interview with Graphic Online. She stated that a Zylofon media staff reached out to her otherwise she would have killed herself and her three children.

Joyce Dzidzor on committing suicide and Afia Schwarzenegger

“I actually meant to go to the village, kill myself and kill my children too. I would never do that for attention. That was how I felt that day when I woke up. I woke up and just wanted to end it all.”

Moreover, she explained that her first attempt to commit suicide was caused by comedian Afia Schwarzenegger in 2016.

“The depression had been there for so long but I didn’t even know. I was diagnosed when I was in Germany. I think the person who brought out the depression in me was Afia Schwarzenegger.

“At that time I was pregnant and I was in Germany and I wrote a letter to President Mahama. She picked up the news, called me, interviewed me and insulted me and called me a liar and a thief. I cried because if you are calling me a thief; for someone like me who has sacrificed her life for this nation educating people and I was being paid just GH¢800. If with all these things somebody can just pick a phone and call me a thief and a liar…I cried. Before I realised I was in the hospital. I don’t even know how I ended up there.”

Furthermore, she stated that she regrets taking the role of an HIV/AIDs Ambassador. This is because revealing her HIV status has rather brought untold hardship on her.

“The mistake I made was accepting that role of an HIV/AIDs Ambassador. I regret. The only thing that makes me happy is the fact that I was able to save lives during my term. But I regret in the sense that I put my children at risk, I put my entire family at risk. I was thinking that educating people will help them understand and accept people living with HIV. I didn’t know that the stigma was going to bounce back to me.”

“Menzgold doesn’t take deposit. They buy gold with the money you give them and work with that gold to give you a return on your investment. Which the last time i checked was around 10%. BOG should rather concentrate on the banks that are misappropriating people’s money rather than the ones actually making money for its people.”

However, she later issued a disclaimer stating that she isn’t an ambassador of Menzgold:

“@naaobieley.ruby exactly! Menzgold doesn’t even touch the money you bring in. It’s only the gold you bring in.

Major among the problems is sexual harassment to simply put it.

Sika has revealed that a staff with the TV3 network,

organizers of the competition demanded to sleep with her in order to help her make it into the house during the auditions.

According to Sika, she missed out in the Kumasi audition so she approached one of the judges of the auditions for help.

The judge offered to train her for the Accra audition so she subsequently bought the forms for the Accra auditions as advised.

The judge then directed her to go and see a certain man (The staff). But indirectly, she was being pimped to the man. The man requested she comes to his house

but she felt something wasn’t right so refused to go and that pissed the man off.

She performed very well during the Accra audition by herself and she was picked. When she entered the Ghana’s Most Beautiful house,

she found out the same man had proposed to all the contestant in the house.

“I actually wasn’t picked at the Kumasi audition

and I had to talk to one of the judges so that is when the problem started”, she said

“The judge told me he is going to help me train so I picked forms for the Accra audition. The judge directed me to meet someone in Accra

but indirectly the judge hooked me up with the person they link me to for the help,” Sika explained.
