Step Down For Mahama To Takeover – Mzbel Tells Nana Addo

Hiplife artiste, Belinda Nana Akua Amoah popularly known as Mzbel has called on President Akufo Addo to step down and allow former president John Dramani Mahama to take over.

The controversial artiste further expressed her disappointment in the president.

According to her, the current government has failed to fulfill its enormous campaign promises made to Ghanaians in the run-up to the 2016 elections.

Mzbel, who is a staunch supporter of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), made this known in a video shared on Facebook.

In the video, the ‘Tongues’ singer is heard once again mocking President Akufo-Addo uncommonly known as William.

She indicated that she was on her way to Kumasi in the Ashanti Region and sighted her location as one of the areas in the region with devastating road networks that needs to be fixed.

The ‘Legelege’ singer further described Nana Addo as a misled leader.

“Uncle Willie (Nana Akufo-Addo) I’m on the Kumasi road but the road is not smooth. Uncle Willie is being misled,’’ she said.

She went on and called on Nana Addo to resign for former president John Dramani Mahama to come to the rescue of frustrated Ghanaians.

“Misleading president!!!! But bro Willie if you will accept, kindly step down so those misleading you be put to shame and accept that he has been misled so that Mahama can take over,” she said.

“How could the misleaders misled a grown man like that, the misleaders don’t respect at all,’’ Mzbel added.

Her comments come days after reports that the former Energy Minister, Mr. Boakye Agyarko reportedly ‘misled’

President Akufo-Addo into granting executive approval to the novation agreement before it was laid before Parliament.

The sector minister was subsequently dismissed by the President.

The Director of Communications at the Presidency, Eugene Arhin confirmed that his dismissal had “to do with the

issue of the controversial AMERI deal.”

But MzBel who seem not to be happy about the development wondered why some ministers and officials at the

presidency would mislead the President into consenting to deals that will take a tow on the public purse.

MzBel also cautioned the president Nana Akufo-Addo over the poor state of roads in various parts of the country

which has led to various accidents resulting in deaths of commuters in the process.

Dr Mensa Otabil Releases Statement In Wake Of Capital Bank Investigations

Pastor Mensa Otabil breaks his silence on the Capital Bank issues

In the released statement, he stated that he wasn’t involved with day to day running of the bank.

Furthermore, Otabil adds that he has submitted himself to all investigative processes carried out by the state since the bank collapse and had even met EOCO.

Moreover, he ends by saying he kept quiet not because he’s guilty but out of respect for the ongoing investigations.

Full statement released by Dr Mensa Otabil addressing Capital Bank allegations

Re: Capital Bank And Related Matters

Greetings!

1. I have observed with concern, the ongoing media discussions regarding developments in the Banking Sector and my role either directly or indirectly.

2. I accepted to be Board Chairman of Capital Bank in a bid to help strengthen a promising Ghanaian enterprise that had potential but also challenges. I was excited about the prospects of a young man from a disadvantaged background who was daring to create opportunities and employment.

3. My position was a non-executive role. I was therefore not involved in the day-to-day management and operations of the Bank.

4. In the course of time, some decisions made turned out well while some did not turn out as well as had been anticipated. As far as I can tell, everything was done with the best of intentions and the interest of various stakeholders in mind.

5. My foremost concern, as has been the case over the past year, is for the well-being of those who lost their jobs and those who may have been adversely affected in any way as a result of these developments. My heart goes out to them and to their dependents. I continue to pray for God’s guidance and sustenance as they navigate the course of their lives.

More of the statement

6. Since the takeover of the bank exactly a year ago today, various mandated state institutions have been investigating and working to arrive at a comprehensive understanding of what happened, why it happened and who was responsible for what. I have been invited by EOCO and I have submitted myself to their processes and answered all their questions faithfully.

7. For some time now, many discussion platforms have made varied references to me and to my perceived role. Some have reached out to me for clarifications regarding issues that have been raised. I have preferred not to respond in the public domain, not as an admission of guilt, but out of respect for the due process and the ongoing investigations.

8. Notwithstanding some unforeseen outcomes, I remain resolute in my belief in the Ghanaian and African entrepreneurial spirit. I will therefore continue to lend my support and mentorship to inspire others who dare to dream and work towards the promise of Africa’s growth and transformation.

9. Meanwhile, as a believer in the rule of law, I will continue to cooperate with the mandated institutions of state as they complete their investigations. I am confident that in the process, the national interest and the rights of all parties involved will be protected.

Shalom, peace and life to you.

Signed, Pastor Mensa Otabil. 14th August, 2018.

We Do Not Need The Whiteman To Validate Us As Africans – EBo Whyte

Renowned playwright and CEO of Roverman Productions, Ebo Whyte talks about the roles of Africans in Africa.

According to him, African can do well enough, given the right space, without the white man’s seal of endorsement.

Moreover, he says it is the reason all of his plays are on Ghanaian stages.

Ebo Whyte on Africans and white people validation

In his view,

“we don’t need to give them (the white man) that authority over what we can do.”

However, that is only one reason for his deep commitment to keeping his art home. His other reason is

“I commit to building a platform so strong that we’ll have people buying tickets to come here (Ghana) to watch a show.”

Furthermore, the playwright’s desire to attract tourists to Ghana with his plays is very applause-worthy in an industry where success is easily marked by how much Europeanism one can sample into a work.

In fact, he looks forward to creating art that is vibrant enough to compete internationally, instead of getting a nod by them.

“If I’m going to travel, there must be an invitation from the ground, from a very credible, reputable organization.”

“I am not going to hustle at an embassy.”

He made all these statements in an interview with Ghanaweb.
