People Refuse To Pay Us For Our Work But We’re Called ‘Ashawobrities’ – Joselyn Dumas(VIDEO)

Actress cum Media Personality, Joselyn Dumas has disclosed that she has no regret calling out organizers of 3 Music Awards to demand for her payment.

The multiple awards-winning actress a few days ago took to Twitter to demand for payment of hosting the maiden edition of the event in March 24, 2018.

Many Ghanaians however couldn’t fathom why she would have to make such revelation public. They believe that she  could reach out to the organizers privately.

But Joselyn in an interview on Hitz 103.9FM disclosed that she was left with no choice than to make it public. This, she explained is because the organizers were neither picking her calls nor replying to her messages.

She said, venting her anger on Twitter to demand her unpaid money was for a good course to speak out for celebrities who have been taken for granted by several events and individual organizers.

Miss Dumas further expressed sadness with regards to how several people have labelled them whores.

Because they claimed most of these female celebrities warm the beds of some business men in order to survive.

But, confuting such claims, Joselyn stated that they (celebrities) work so hard to take care of their families with their talent. However, many individuals and organizations have always delayed or refused to acknowledge their crafts.

She also added that several Ghanaian celebrities are making an honest living through their crafts. But people, especially event organizers seem not pleased with their efforts even when a consensus has been reached in the contract.

“It’s not easy out there…Contrary to what people think, a lot of us in the industry are making an honest living and this is how we make our living so if you don’t pay, how am I going to live.” She told Merqury Quaye on Hitz FM.

According to her, it costs so much to maintain her brand. Hence, she feels cheated when she is not paid for services she renders for an organization or an individual.

“You call us ‘Ashawobrities’ and claim there is no celebrity in Ghana. How do you expect some of us to live and survive if you don’t pay us what is owed us?

And because you feel like the talent is not tangible so you’re not going to pay me or someone sitting there will think, why are you giving this girl this amount for just talking.

But it’s not just talking. Even when you go out, you pay for the dress you wear and might not be able to repeat same dress at other places.

The make up artist, your hair are all paid for.  And by the time you’re done that cheque you’re getting, you’re spending one-third of it.”

She claimed though she has compèred so many events and shows for free, it was based on good rapport with the organizers.

“I even do emceeing for free sometimes but it’s all about communication. I’ve been trying to be civil with this gentleman (Sadiq Abdulai). And I know him and worked with him and he is an amazing person who believes in the arts.

but at the end of the day, you can’t play with my daily bread.”

Relating 3 Music Awards organizers inability to fulfill their part of the contract for hosting their maiden awards event held at the Fantasy Dome in Accra, Dumas said,

“you’ve a family, bills and child to look after so what are we supposed to do? We need to respect our creatives and give them what is due.”

She also noted that event organizers failure to pay what is due an artiste or actor retards progress. According to her, it is one of the reasons why the creative arts industry keep retrogressing.

“This is what we know and do for a living. This is why our industry is actually suffering because nobody is paying for anything. Everybody is taking everyone for granted in the industry.

When you hire a talent pay the person because my talent is what I’m offering to the table and your payment is what you’re bringing to the table… I’ve been able to fulfill my bargain, fulfill yours too.” Dumas added.

Meanwhile, Sadiq Abdulai Abu, founder of 3 Music Awards has responded to Joselyn Dumas’ claims of not receiving payment for her work.

He however denied claims that he had blocked Dumas on Twitter to prevent her from getting access to him.

“I was not in town, I was doing some work outside the country. So on Monday one of my guys called me and asked me to reach out to Joselyn or one of the guys who is part of her management, because there is a perception that I have blocked her on Twitter, but that wasn’t the case.

I was just not in town. So I called him and pleaded with him to give me some time since I just returned to the country. And I just resumed work so I’d pay them.” stated Abu on Zylofon FM.

He added that lot of debts was incurred, and he is working together with his team to ensure that everyone is paid.

He also pleaded for not completing his side of the agreement with Dumas and promised to pay her back very soon. She is owned some 10, 000 Cedis for the hosting gig.

National Blood Service Disappointed In Evangelist Addai For Ritual Sacrifice Allegations

National Blood Service responds to Addai Emmanuel. Furthermore, Emmanuel Addai is a prophet who accused Despite CEO of using blood for rituals. Moreover, this was the blood donated at his health-fair.

Also, he stated that Dr. Osei Kwame Despite lured innocent citizens into donating blood. Therefore, these allegations came to the notice of the National Blood Service (NBS). They expressed their shock and disappointment that such a well-meaning endeavor could be so unfortunately misconstrued. Therefore, they released a statement to address these concerns.

National Blood Service about damning allegations against Despite by Prophet Addai

“The National Blood Service (NBS) note with deep shock and utter disappointment video and audio recordings by one Evangelist Emmanuel Addai making rounds in certain social media circles alleging that blood donated by voluntary blood donors during community blood donation drives organised by the Despite Group of Companies are used for rituals by Dr. (H.C) Osei Kwame Despite. The assertions by the said Evangelist that the blood collected from voluntary blood donors who patronise such blood donation drives do not get to hospitals are uninformed and portrays a lack of understanding of blood donation process. The NBS wishes to state emphatically that these assertions by the said Evangelist Addai on the recordings are palpably false, baseless and most regrettable”.

Furthermore, the NBS calls on the general public to ignore these preposterous claims by the so-called Evangelist. This is because it is out of pure ignorance.

“Over the past few years, the Despite Group of Companies has consistently supported the NBS in its efforts to meet the national blood requirements. The NBS appreciates the enormous contributions of the Despite Group of Companies and other corporate organizations, religious bodies, educational institutions and organized community groups towards the steady growth of voluntary blood donation in Ghana.

We urge our partners to remain committed to the noble objective of saving lives through blood donation… Regular voluntary unpaid blood donors are recognised globally. This is because it is the safest source of blood for transfusion. Also, it is the surest way to provide and sustain adequate blood supply. The WHO recommends that regular blood donation by 1% of the population. This is to meet the minimum national blood requirement. However, Ghana’s blood supply currently relies heavily on replacement donations by family and friends of patients who require blood transfusion therapy”.

Kwame Dadzie Responds To Kobi Rana Over Media Diss

Ghanaian actor, Kobi Rana posed a question to journalists. Furthermore, according to him the journalists never report on good deeds by celebrities. Moreover, all they report are the bad or unsavory stories.

However, Kwame Dadzie, a journalist from Citi FM rebutted his post. He stated that the media projects the positives as well; hence, should be cut some slack.

Also, he spoke about the volume of stories that come per day.

Below is Kwame Dadzie’s full post to Kobi Rana

Hi Kobi Rana,

I read your sermon on the media supposedly not reporting Moesha Bodoung’s donation to a certain school.

Well, I am not surprised a whit about what you wrote because you are not the first to criticise the media for giving less prominence to ‘positive’ news.

Shatta Wale, KK Fosu, Mzbel, Sarkodie and co have all ranted about this before.

A few days ago, Stonebwoy was wailing on Twitter that the media failed to make his Europe tour trend when in fact he was already trending on social media.

It is normal. It is expected.

But you see…every news item has its velocity; some fly, others walk.

We even have news items that crawl. It doesn’t matter how many journalists report it – if it doesn’t stimulate the buds of ‘human interest,’ forget it; it will be all over the place but it won’t be all over people’s lips.

Mind you, it is not only ‘negative’ stories that sell. Some ‘positive’ news stories also sell.

I am not sure it was movie directors who did all the stories on Kwesi Arthur’s BET experience.

Stonebwoy’s affiliation with Morgan Heritage, Shatta Wale’s ‘Gringo’ release, Abraham Attah’s success stories etc did not go viral through the reportage of you and your colleague actors.

DJ Switch’s stories were not written by Kwaku Bonsam.

To help you understand our work better, I LEAVE YOU WITH THIS ASSIGNMENT:

If you are to choose between doing a movie on Moesha donating items to a school and another on Moesha talking about sex and love on CNN, which will you put premium on?

According to him, the situation is not making him happy at all, indicating that he could never operate from that office.

The Zylofon media signee further called on the Zylofon Boss, Nana Appiah Mensah, to come to his aid and solve the problem.

Shatta wrote: “So my office for Zylofon ,no air condition deh am not happy at all ..oh wow .. NAM1 come and save me oooo lol …?

His complaint however ended with two jovial emojis with tongue stuck out and a  ‘thumbs-up’ emoji.

We cannot therefore say if Shatta Wale’s complaint is meant to be taken by the company and Ghanaians on a lighter note. Especially knowing that he can afford an air-conditioner himself.

Meanwhile, his post has garnered massive reactions on social media. Most people have argued that Zylofon sees no use of Wale; therefore they refused to put air-conditioners in his office. Others also called on Nana Appiah Mensah to as a matter of urgency, fix the air-conditioners for the ‘Gringo’ hitmaker.
