Veteran Actor, Kuntu Blankson Of Akan Drama Fame Commits Suicide

Veteran Ghanaian actor, Kuntu Blankson passes away. Furthermore, his death was by suicide. He reportedly took his own life.

Details on Kuntu Blankson’s suicide

The actor died in the of, July 12th. His body hanged on a rope tied to the roof of his kitchen in his Cape Coast residence.

Blankson was a regular member of the venerated Akan Drama troupe. Also, he served as a laboratory technician with the University of Cape Coast Hospital.

According to his family, he wakes up at dawn every morning to jog. Therefore, everyone thought he had gone out for his daily routine.

Instead they found him dead in his kitchen wearing the tracksuit he usually puts on for jogging.

Kuntu was 63 and leaves behind his wife and three kids.

His body has been carried away for autopsy whilst police have commenced investigations into the death.

I Didn’t Insult Ghanaian Politicians, I Only Asked Them To Apply Common Sense — Kwaw Kese

Kwaw Kese clarifies his earlier video.

The boss of MadTime Entertainment, Kwaw Kese opens up on his viral video. Furthermore, in the video he called Ghanaian politicians “stupid”. Also, he invoked curses on them for their greed.

Obviously, Ghanaian politicians aren’t happy with the video. Therefore, he released another video explaining what he meant in his previous video.

His rants come on the backdrop of emergencies at the country’s flagship hospital, Korle Bu Teaching Hospital which has not been giving much attention to by politicians.

Another issue that confounded Kwaw was the NPP’s National Chairman, Freddie Blay purchasing 275 buses for his party. Meanwhile, about 30 million Ghanaians depend on only 54 ambulances.

Kwaw Kese in his latest video said:

“I’ve heard people talking about my video. I was just telling Ghanaian politicians to apply common sense and stop using the nation’s money on stupid things”.

I Can Sing And Dance Better Than Kuami Eugene – Mr Drew

Budding musician, Mr Drew, has said that he is better better than awards-winning musician and songwiter, Kuami Eugene.

In an interview with Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz he said when it comes to singing and dancing, he knows he is better than the Lynx Entertainment signee.

Kuami Eugene within a couple of months won the hearts of many music lovers since his introduction onto the music scene.

He has released a number of fan favorite songs including Angela, Confusion, Boom Bang, among others.

He’s currently out with a news single dubbed “Wish Me Well”, which is already a hit.

Kuami has also won two awards at the last Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.

Despite all these achievements, Mr Drew stated emphatically to Andy Dosty that he is more popular than Kuami Eugene.

“…I think I am far better than Kuami Eugene. He does music and dance as well but I know I can do better than him when it comes to both…” he said

Mr Drew also revealed in the interview that before he started a career in music, he used to be a dancer. He added that he switched to music because he discovered there was a great future for him in the music industry.

Mr Drew, real name, Andrew Otoo is signed onto the Highly Spiritual Music label.

He’s currently promoting his debut single ‘Gimme Love’ which was produced by music engineer Kaywa.

Former UK Ambassador to Ghana, Jon Benjamin has been on actor John Dumelo’s neck ever since the issue of his V8 news went viral.

Jon Benjamin always made fun of the actor especially in relation to him allegedly stealing a V8 Vehicle that belonged to the state.

But it seems all that was just for fun as the two appear to be very good friends in recent photos.

GHAMRO Drags Telcos, GBC To Court Over Non-Payment For Music Use

Chairman of the Ghana Music Rights Organisation, Rex Owusu Marfo has revealed that the organization has taken all telecommunication companies in the country and the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation to court for not paying to use music.

He made this revelation in an interview with Regina Van Helvert on GhOne TV. He mentioned that the attitude of people not wanting to pay to use music was an obstacle to the progress of the music industry in the country.

“We have to be factual and solve our problems in the Music Industry. We don’t have support systems and we must build it,” he said.

Meanwhile, this has been a major challenge the organization and some industry players have pinpointed in the past.

Rex Omar, has further stated that his office will nonetheless ensure to put a stop to this problem for the progress of the organization.

“We are still doing a lot of work and restructuring at GHAMRO. We now have the best welfare policy” Rex added.

I Will Stay Faithful To My Second Husband – Bibi Bright

Actress Bibi Bright has said that she intends to stay faithful to her second husband.

Bibi Bright will be getting married on Saturday, July 14, 2018 to her love Akwasi Boateng.

Bibi who suffered divorce in her first marriage some six years ago and has been in a number of failed relationship but has assured that she will put her all in this to make it last forever.

On why she accepted to marry this new man six years after her divorce, she told Graphic Showbiz in an interview that;

“I have known Akwasi Boateng for the past 18 years and I can proudly say that he is the man I want to spend the rest of my life with. I didn’t hesitate to accept his proposal because he is a great guy”.

She noted that her first marriage failed because it was a long distance relationship.

“I have tasted marriage before and I know how it is to be a wife. Unfortunately for me, my first marriage did not work because it was long distance but I have a strong feeling this new one will work.”

Bibi Bright also used the opportunity to ask Ghanaians to support her with their prayers as she starts a new journey in her life.

“I have learned a lot being a divorcee and I don’t intend to do anything ‘bad’ that will jeopardize this new marriage but all I will need from Ghanaians is to support me with their prayers.”

Stonebowy, BHIM Nation boss has revealed that there would soon be a collaboration between him and Shatta Wale.

The “Bawasaba” hitmaker made this revelation when a social media user asked him if he would ever have a collaboration with his rival in the music industry.

Stonebowy however replied with, “Soon time”.

Kwesi Arthur Goes To Church For Thanksgiving,Performs His New Song ‘Woara'(VIDEO)

Hip Hop star, Kwesi Arthur has performed his latest song “woara” to his congregation.

Kwesi was in his church, Community 9 Pentecost Church in Tema for a thanksgiving service.

The rapper shared a video of himself sharing a testimony of how far God has brought him and where God is taking him to.

“who knew that one day i would make the kind of songs my family would be singing along to in the church! this was a spiritual moment for me…‬” reads his caption.

After the testimony, Kwesi sang the song and to his amazement, the congregation tagged along.

Meanwhile, Kwesi had revealed in an earlier interview that he used to sing in church but had to stop. Something he attributed to the fact that he used to end up singing secular songs in the church.

Ghana musician Kwesi Arthur was nominated for the 2018 BET Awards Viewer’s Choice Best International Act category this year.

He battled it out with Sjava (South Africa), Mc Soffia (Brazil) Nailah Blackman (Trinidad and Tobago), Not3S (UK), Prince Waly (France), Sik-k (South Korea), TakeAMic (France) and IAMDDB (UK).

Although he didn’t win, he sees such an opportunity as a blessing to greater achievements considering his background.

He has since been grateful and released a gospel song, ‘Woara’ to thank God for his blessings upon his life.

‘Ghanaian Rappers Are Sleeping’ – Pope Skinny

Rapper, Pope Skinny pledges to revive the dying hardcore rap in the Ghanaian music space.

Furthermore, according to him, the emergence of commercial music turned all the talented rappers into singing. Moreover, the situation caused a decline in the industry.

He made these statement to Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM. The rapper said he’ll put measures in place to revive the hip-hop rap genre in Ghana.

“The rappers in Ghana are dead and not working because rap doesn’t sell anymore so everyone is singing. We’re trying to put the rappers on their toes. I am trying to tell all the sleeping rappers to wake up.” 

Furthermore, the host asked about what he meant by rap being dead. This is because there were rappers like Sarkodie, EL, Manifest, among others still present in the game. However, Pope said they were all sleeping because what they do isn’t hard anymore.

Pope added that critics who label him a mere rapper are people who don’t listen to his songs.

When I am saying rap is dead I mean we all slept at a point in time. It’s not about who you like. Who should resurrect rap when everyone is sleeping? Sarkodie is my guy and I wouldn’t say anything to hurt him. Every rapper is asleep and they will wake up. I have to feel the Sarkodie I knew way back. We can do our love songs but once we are rappers lets wake up for those who love rap to jam to it.”

One of the most talked about artistes on social media currently in Ghana is RuffTown Records signee, Wendy Shay.

Wendy has been the ‘toast’ of many social media users for some days now because of her hairstyle.

They therefore called her out to have a change of her weave-on since it’s not even her own natural hair.

But both Wendy and her manager, Bullet came out to say that, the hair is part of Wendy’s brand.

However, she has been spotted with a different hairstyle in recent photos. Not to say that she has removed the previous weave-on. She still has it on but has dyed it from black to brown.

Celebrities in Ghana endorse Kwaw Kese on his sentiments.

Ghanaian rapper, Kwaw Kese lost his baby over a week ago. Furthermore, the baby passed away in Korle Bu Teaching Hospital. After the incident, the rapper shared his experiences with the hospital.

Moreover, in a video he compared the conditions of the children to Nsawam prison.

Also, last Tuesday he went on a rant about the state of healthcare in the country. He juxtaposed the conditions against the recent splashing of cash we saw at the NPP delegates congress.

Kwaw Kese couldn’t believe that with all the stories of people dying due to lack of ambulances, the stories of hospitals without enough beds to take care of Ghanaians, the NPP is wasting money buying 275 buses for the party.

Ghanaian television personality, Gifty Anti cautions women not to live a Hollywood life. Furthermore, she says that women women should be themselves.

She made these statements at a conference organised by the Israeli Embassy. Moreover, the conference was to empower women. She urged women to be open and ask for assistance when they need arises. Also, she said it wasn’t necessary to be something you’re not.

Patients At Korle Bu Forced To Buy Plastic Chairs Or Sit On The Floor To Await Treatment

There are new revelations about Korle Bu.

The health sector in the country is in shambles. Furthermore, a lot of patients die even though they have easily treatable conditions.

Citi News’ made these reports from the hospital.

Conditions of service at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital

However, latest revelations are that patients at the nation’s premiere facility, the Korle Bu Teaching Hosptial, are suffering. Furthermore, they either sit in plastic chairs or even on the floor. This is as they wait to receive care due to overflow at the hospital.

Also, the Ministry of Health issued a directive preventing hospitals from turning away patients. This is even if there are no beds.

Therefore, this creates a situation where the hospitals receive more patients than their capacity. This leads to a new problem.

At the Surgical Medical Emergency Unit of Korle Bu, patients are being forced to purchase plastic chairs to get somewhere to sit or resort to sitting on the floor.

“Patients are receiving treatment on plastic chairs which they were made to buy because there were no vacant beds or chairs available.” 

MzVee On Ghanaians Against Child Abuse(GACA)

Awards-winning Reggea/Dancehaa artiste, Vera Hamenoo-Kpeda, better known as MzVee has joined the fight against child abuse.

According to the “Mensuro Obia” hitmaker, the nation must stand up in one voice and fight against the child abuse canker.

The music star shared the post her Instagram account, with the caption;

“If we don’t speak up, nothing will change. Join me in taking a stand against all forms of child abuse. Be a Ghanaian Against Child Abuse.”

Meanwhile, MzVee has a song to that effect titled GACA(Ghanaians Against Child Abuse). Her label mate, Kuami Eugene also featured on the song.

(GACA is a campaign to ensure that all forms of abuses against children are highlighted and tackled.

The launch of the campaign came off at Katiejeli in the Kpandai district of the northern region in February this year.

It is intended to create awareness on the effects of child abuse especially among children of school going age.

This leg of the campaign received support from music stars, M.anifest and Mzvee, and sports journalist, Gary Al Smith, among others.
