Agya Koo’s Fall Affected Me A Lot – Miracle Films

Boss of Miracle Films, Rev. Samuel Kwesi Nyamekye says the fall of actor Agya Koo in the movie industry, affected him more than any other movie producer in Ghana. Furthermore, Miracle Films is a movie production company based in Kumasi in the Ashanti region.

He made these statements in a live studio interview with Christian Agyei Frimpong on Onua 95.1 FM. Moreover, Rev Samuel Nyamekye said he was the one who featured Agya Koo in mainstream movies.

Also, he said said he was the only movie producer who made lots of sales anytime he featured Agya Koo in movies.

Miracle Films about Agya Koo

“Movie Producers in Ghana couldn’t manage Agya Koo’s attitude.

The reason is that Agya Koo will go on location, he won’t spend more than a week on location and some directors and producers couldn’t compromise with this attitude and so they decided to look elsewhere for other options as in getting replacement.”

Samuel Nyamekye is one of the God fathers of the indigenous movies in Ghana. Furthermore, he produced and directed movies like Asoreba, Evangelist Lil Win, Agya Koo Bank Manager, Ensi Aga, among several others.

Kumawood Movie Industry Is Dead – Prince David Osei

The debate as to whether the local movie industry, Kumawood is dead or not continues almost each day.

Many, including some of the industry’s players have come out to say that yes indeed, the industry in dead.

Others on the other hand are also vehemently against referring to the industry as dead.

But whatever the case is, we all know that we no longer hear nor see this movie part one and two anymore.

Well, that was one main character about these kumawood movies, they’re mostly in parts.

Another sure way to know the stance of the industry is with this latest release of Anas’ work, Number 12.

Formerly, by now, we would have been hearing, ‘Kwesi Awuo oo’ parts one and two, or yet still, ‘GFA Amanehunu Kese3′ or even some other hilarious titles on radio or TV by now.

But none of this is happening. No Kumawood producer has up to now released any movie in relation to Anas’ latest expose’.

Perhaps, Ghallywood actor, Prince David Osei has also taken into consideratio all these facottrs and has made his conclusion about the industry.

According to the actor, Kumawood movie industry surely looks DEAD to him from where he stands.

Besides, we just brought the Golden Movie Awards to an end, an indication that movies are flowing in from all other industries.

We however, cannot remember the last time we heard of Kumawood Movie Award, which only means one thing.

Speaking on Hitz FM on Monday, the actor disclosed that, stakeholders in the Kumawood sector have refused to be aligned with modernity with regards to going digital.

“There are great movies from the English industry so I don’t see where the problem is here. If the Kumawood people are saying someone was going to invade their space, from where I stand right now, it looks like Kumasi Movie industry is DEAD… That’s the truth. He said.

“Producers call me and say, they are unable to sell one thousand (1,000) DVD copies and the reason why this is happening is not because someone is trying to invade in anybody’s space but the truth is that the world is moving, things are changing and they need to speed up.

Right now, nobody buys DVD, we live in a digital world where people watch movies online, you need to get a platform where people can view your movies. It’s no longer getting guys in traffic to sell DVDs. It’s all about marketing.”Prince Osei added.

Prince David further stated that the Glamour Movie sector is currently doing more movies on societal issues and comedy. Thus, after they considered that fact movie freaks have complained about same love and drama story lines from the English speaking producers.

“People talk about the English speaking movies going down but it will amaze you to know that the English Movie industry has really picked up at a very fast pace. You’ve no idea of the kind of movies coming out this year. Personally, when I got back to Ghana in March, I’ve shot about six movies and I keep shooting.

“Maybe story-wise, people have become fed-up with the normal insults and they want different storylines and that is what happened to our English Movies, we lost it when we started telling just the love stories but right now we’ve moved on. We are tackling societal issues and doing more comedy movies. People are tired of serious drama and love movies.” He noted.

He also debunked the perceptions by many that there is no ‘beef’ between the Kumawood and Ghallywood industry.

According to him, “It’s perception but personally from my point of view, there’s nothing like that and we’ve been working together. Just that people have tagged the kind of movie to be Kumawood and ours to be the English speaking movies and that’s just the difference but there’s nothing like rivalry between the two industries.

“We’ve been doing collaborations together. Nana Ama McBrown seems to be one of the top superstars coming from Kumasi. She’s been doing movies with everyone. She did ‘Side Chic Gang’ with Lydia Forson and Sika Osei. I’ve done movies with Lil Win, Kwaku Manu and Van Vicker, Juliet Ibrahim have all done movies with most of the Kumawood stars.” He said.
