Ghanaian professional footballer, Edwin Gyimah is in trouble. Furthermore, the footballer currently plays for South African side, Bidvest Wits.

Moreover, the woman accusing him is Nora, Belgium-based woman. According to her, she has a baby for the footballer. However, he refuses fatherly duties. Moreover, according to her, she found out later after her pregnancy that Gyimah was already married.

Also, she narrated the story to Ameyaw Debrah about Edwin Gyimah abandoning his child

“It was September 6 2016, and I went to Russia to watch a friendly game between Ghana and Russia in Moscow. So be the match, I went to the Kempiski hotel Moscow where black stars of Ghana lodge. So I say some of the players and officials. I Met a player by the name Edwin Gyimah. I didn’t know he was a player. We talked and exchange contact. I left the following day after the match to Belgium where I based. I didn’t write or spoke with him for some time, so one day I was going though my contacts and texted him, so we started talking he was playing in south Africa, he asked to come over and a lot but I didn’t pay attention to him. We stopped chatting for a while till when he came to Sweden to play for a new club. We came in contact again, and he decided we should hook up, I didn’t want to but because of his words I believed and went to see him on the 7th of may 2017 in Sweden, he bought my flight ticket. I thought am going to see him and return.

He didn’t allow me, we got to know ourselves a whole lots, and he told me he wants to marry me a lot. So something happened and through that I got pregnant, he promised a lot to care about the pregnancy and buy the uborn child things, he promised to come and see my family, but when I left his place, everything changed. I got to know he’s married with kids, and I asked before he said yes. Since I got pregnant. That’s all he doesn’t care about me again, all my hospital bills, he doesn’t even care about my condition. And I don’t know any family member of him. Now I have given birth to a baby girl for about 2 months now. Not even a dipper or a cedi, he has refuse to take care of his own child and has blocked me on every social media platforms. I don’t need his money I just want him to care for his daughter”

Mercy Asiedu talks about the movie industry.

Kumawood star, Mercy Asiedu says YouTube is the reason behind the decline of the Ghanaian movie industry. Furthermore, she made these statements on Kumasi-based Agyenkwa FM.

Moreover, she stated that movie lovers now watch films on Youtube and don’t buy CDs no more.

Also, according to her, Ghanaians living abroad were the ones purchasing local movies. However, the current trend of uploading newly-produced movies on YouTube slowed down sales. This is because they watch them for free.

Mercy Asiedu advised moviemakers to adopt the new technology to help sustain the industry.

“Anytime there is a new movie, you will see it on YouTube hours after its release. How will someone who has watched a movie on Youtube take money to purchase a copy? Ghanaians outside were the ones buying most of our movies but they now watch our films on Youtube. When I made my recent trip to U.S.A, I realised all movies in Ghana are on Youtube so they just log onto the internet and they start watching them one after the other.

We are now pleading with our leaders to adopt the new trend so that it will help the indstry.”

Furthermore, they asked her about the claims that telenovelas on TV stations are killing the industry. She replied

“I will not say it is part of why our industry is suffering. TV stations are running a business and they need money so they show content which will generate income for them. We have to produce content that will yield income for them as well so we should not blame telenovelas. I have a new series on TV and I’ve been receiving good reviews since it started showing. If we can all produce quality products for the TV stations, I’m not sure they will reject them.”

Several top UK celebrities graced a special London dinner in honour of Ghana’s president, Nana Akuffo-Addo. Moreover, the celebrities included rapper Stormzy, Edward Enniful, Afua Hirsch, and model Naomi Campbell.

Special Dinner for President Nana Addo in London

Nana Addo is currently in the British capital on holiday. He is there with his wife, Mrs Rebecca Akufo-Addo, his children and grandchildren. A week-long event, it is his first vacation since assuming office in January 2017.

Furthermore, the president is expected to speak at the University of Oxford. This is part of its 2018 Africa Conference, on the theme “Enough Rhetoric! Catalysing an Era of Concrete Action”. Also, at the London Business School’s Africa Business Summit on Saturday, May 12.

Zylofon Music record label admits that there’s problems between them and reggae and dancehall artist, Stonebwoy.

Furthermore, PRO for Zylofon Music, Arnold Asamoah-Baidoo spoke about this in a conversation with Sammy Forson. Moreover, he reiterated that Stonebwoy was still with Zylofon Music. Also, he added that the notice of artiste’s services still holds.

He stated that

“I would be lying if I do state that there is no issue between Stonbwoy and the record label.”

However, he stated that lawyers of Zylofon Music and the artist management have had meetings to put matters to rest. Therefore, for him to make such a public statement was a surprise.

“Stonebwoy is still a Zylofon recording artiste and there is no dispute about it. I remember on March 13, there was a release by or for the label outlining all the celebrities under the brand and Stonebwoy’s name was in there. On March 23rd, there was another release which actually specified that if there is any organisation/firm that would want to engage Stonebwoy as an artiste, the person must seek the approval of Zylofon Music and that still stands. As far as we are concerned as a label, Stonebwoy is still signed to us.

I would be lying if I do state that there is no issue between Stonebwoy and the record label. Over the period, the legal team of Zylofon Music and Stonebwoy’s team have been meeting to resolve the seeming issue that exists betwen the two entities so we were actually surprised that he went ahead to make those statements to the effect that his management should be contacted for bookings.” 

Also, the host asked  about Stonebwoy’s recent behaviour. About whether it was because he wasn’t given the attention other artistes on the label enjoy. He answered:

“I’m not sure that is the problem because he would have said that in any of the several meetings we have had.

We have given this to our legal team which is led by Kwame Boafo Akuffo and with time we are going to issue a statement in regard to the latest declaration by Stonebwoy because we believe as a label, it is important we respect contract and responsibilities both parties have in the contract so you guys will hear from our legal team.”

Ghana Christian Musicians’ Association is an association of persons engaged in the production, promotion, distribution, and presentation of gospel music. Furthermore, they held a maiden night of socialisation and evangelism. Moreover, this event was to promote the PlayGhana drive and foster unity among the gospel music fraternity.

The event took place at the Silver Bird Cinemas. Furthermore, it drew over 150 well known and upcoming Gospel musicians, creative artistes and key media influencers. There was notable representation from Women in Gospel Music as well.

Launch of Ghana Christian Musicians Association

The Head of the Gospel Desk at MUSIGA, Rev Dr Mary Ghansah was there to share her remarks. In her remarks, she applauded the founding members of the association for their initiative. Also, she encouraged them to forge ahead and achieve the vision of the group as Christian musicians in Ghana.

The maiden family night gave voice to the PlayGhana campaign. Furthermore, this campaign calls for the production, playing and ministering of Music made in Ghana.

The evening also saw the premiering of the latest DVD recording of the group’s annual Hymns Night.

The mini launch of the GCMA is to give the needed impetus and build up to the formal grand launch in the very near future. There was also a prayer for the gospel music industry, the church, and the nation.

Shatta Wale’s ‘Gringo’ video is getting so many ‘fans’ all over the world. Furthermore, the video has over a million views on YouTube in just a week. Moreover, one of the actors in the video thanks Wale for the video and exposure.

Christopher Winbush was one of the U.S cast for the video.  and he cannot believe the plaudits the video is receiving in Ghana.

Taking to Facebook, Winbush showered praise on Wale for the video. Also, the level of exposure it has now given him in Ghana and all over the continent.

Kurl Songx sets the fact straight.

Ghanaian Highlife musician, Kurl Songx rubbished rumours circulating. Furthermore, these rumours are that he is into frauding. This is popularly known as ‘Sakawa’.

Moreover, he spoke about this on SVTV.

Also, the ‘Jennifer Lomotey’ hitmaker explained that even though he is mostly found in the midst of ‘Sakawa’ boys. However, he isn’t one of them. Also, he added that he sees nothing wrong with being friends with ‘Sakawa’ boys.

Kurl Song won the MTN hitmaker season 5. Moreover, he stated that he doesn’t give a hoot about rumours portraying him to be a ‘sakawa’ boy.

E.L talks rap.

Ghanaian artist, EL revealed that often he dumbs down his rap. Moreover, this is so it can get to a level that the average Ghanaian can understand it.

Furthermore, the rapper made these statements in a recent interview. He was of the view that often when he writes he realizes he has to dumb down some portions. This is to appeal to the masses.

These seem like strange sentiments from a guy crowned Best Rapper of the Year at a point.

E.L told Joy News’ MzGee about his lyrics

“I feel myself most of the time having to dumb it down and that’s not a bad thing because you have to consider what you want to achieve in terms of making music and expressing yourself to a wider audience and you have to think about how the wider audience can understand.” 

E.L said this is why sometimes his lyrics might not seem so deep. However, if he wanted he could go as deep as anyone else.

“Most of the time, I am like ‘if I say it this way, them no go ‘barb’ [they won’t understand]’. I could go as deep as anybody.”

Highlife singer, Kumi Guitar is back home. Furthermore, he recently fell ill and was admitted into hospital. He allegedly had a series of illnesses.

Moreover, he revealed that he was battling High blood pressure and typhoid. Therefore, he had undergone numerous tests to check out his overall health.

Well, Guitar is now out of the hospital and is back to work at full health.

The Zylofon Media signee took to social media to thank everyone for their prayers and support whilst he was in the hospital. Also, he said it felt too good to be back.
