Kumawood Empress, Nana Ama McBrown Declares The Industry Dead

Renowned actress and screen goddess, Nana Ama McBrown has declared that the local movie industry, best known as Kumawood is dead.

Many industry players have been crying over the inactiveness of the industry for sometime now.

According to Nana Ama, the number of movie scripts she normally receives in a month had declined significantly.

“Those days, I could I could have as many as four different scripts in a month, but it’s not like that anymore…,” she revealed.

Nana Ama Mcbrown

Nana Ama was speaking to Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM on Monday.

Asked if she believes that Kumawood has died completely, the actress said, “yes it has collapsed. The speed of the work has reduced drastically.” She bemoaned.

The ‘SideChic Gang’ actress further attributed the seemingly collapsed industry to the decision by the government to reconstruct the Kejetia Market complex in Kumasi.

According to her, the mass eviction that took place at Kejetia affected the market as the CD sellers that used to patronize their movies have no place to sell their wares.

She however urged various producers to step up their game to match international movie standards.

“Now everything is on social media. There is Netflix and all that. Maybe we need to upgrade. This is not the time to give up. Are they ready to shoot that kind of movie that will go far?

“If we do a good movie, we can get the money back. It has gone down but we shouldn’t blame anyone…,” the actress said.

Nana Ama McBrown, born Felicity Ama Agyemang is known for her versatility and impeccable roles in such movies. She is one of the long serving actresses in Ghana and in the Kumawood movie industry. She’s referred to as the Queen of Kumawood by a section of the public.

We Need To Be Abreast of New Technologies To Grow – Bill Asamoah

Bill Asamoah opens up about Kumawood’s shortcomings.

The local movie industry, Kumawood, is experiencing its own troubles which threatens its survival.

Furthermore, a lot of people attributed the problems to the power crisis which lasted for about three years, piracy and the influx of telenovelas on our TV screens. However, Kumawood actor, Bill Asamoah, says complacency is the major cause.

Bill made these statements in an interview with Showbiz. Also, Bill is the President of the Kumasi chapter of the Actors Guild.

‘We were too comfortable and didn’t innovate’, Bill Asamoah

“As an industry, we were too comfortable.

We realised the VCD was being phased out. However, instead of us changing to be abreast of the times, we relaxed and it has overtaken us.

We thought the people who were buying the VCDs were okay little did we know that the trend had changed. Now it’s about cinemas and selling movies online. We hope and pray that we will be able to adapt to new technologies.”

Moreover, the actor said players in the local music industry are still discussing ways to the deal with their problems.

“We need to be abreast of new technologies and have to come up with innovative ways of getting our movies to Ghanaians. Some of us are suggesting pen drives on which we will encrypt the movies so that people don’t copy them unnecessarily.

We could also get people to come to the cinemas to watch our local movies. So we’re thinking outside the box and we hope to find a clear way to deal with the situation for our movies to appeal to everyone.”

Furthermore, he called on stakeholders who have brilliant ideas as to how to save the situation to come on board. According to him, a lot of actors will be jobless if the issues are not addressed as fast as possible.

Stonebwoy Unfollows A Plus On Instagram

Controversial Ghanaian musician, Kwame Asare Obeng, aka A Plus has disclosed that dancehall act, Stonebwoy has un-followed him on photosharing app – Instagram.

He believes that the latter did that because of false reports by the media about his comments.

According to him, Stonebwoy unfollowing him doesn’t bother him. However, he believes that the media created an impression that he doesn’t like stonebwoy.

A Plus is one of the many Ghanaians who aired his views on the current feud between Zylofon Media and Stonebwoy.

He expressed his unhappiness at the current mishaps between Zylofon Media and Stonebwoy. A Plus is believed to have said that he would at anytime opt for a paid Shatta Wale show over a free show by stonebwoy. This according to him is because of the strong love he has for Shatta Wale. Nevertheless he condemned the manner in which the media outlet treated the Bhim Nation boss over the weekend.

According to A Plus, it is likely they might treat Shatta Wale the same way they’re treating Stonebwoy sometime to come. Hence, he will not concord to the treatment meted out to Stonebwoy. This he said is because if same thing was done to Shatta he wouldn’t like it.

He made this known in a post after the news of a feud broke out on Saturday evening.

According to reports, Zylofon Media crew led by Bulldog tried to seize Stonebwoy’s Mercedez Benz at the champs bar in Paloma hotel -Accra.

His comment might have not gone down well with the ‘Bawasaawa’ hitmaker, who he’s later alleging has un-followed him.

He therefore decided to re-post his former comments again with his new comment that states Stonebwoy has un-followed him.

Check Yourself First Before You Start Judging — Kumi Guitar To Afia Schwarzenegger

Kumi Guitar reacts to Afia Schwarzenegger’s comments

Zylofon Music signee, Kumi Guitar reacted to Afia Schwarzenegger’s comments. Afia stated that some Zylofon Music signees have become irrelevant since they were signed onto the record label.

Kumi Guitar made his statement in an interview with Kojo Preko Dankwa on Kasapa FM.

She disappointed me – Kumi Guitar

“I saw Afia Schwarzenegger’s video and for the first time, I was disappointed in her. She is strong and I have followed her, and like her spirit. In life before you judge somebody, you should look at yourself because no one is perfect, no institution is also perfect. Institutions have their flaws, they have their strength and weaknesses.

Not to say what she is saying is true or not but there is a way to address the issue in a more civilised manner.

Nana Appaiah Mensah isn’t stupid to invest in the arts industry. Any human institutions make mistakes so let give time and respect to every brand.

If you say Joyce Blessings, and others are struggling to make a hit, have you approached her and management to ask. Madam Afia Schwarzenegger I respect you but for this comment from you was uncalled for. I wish she renders an apology to Zylofon Media and Nana Appiah Mensah”.

Furthermore, in a video, Afia Schwarzenegger used Joyce Blessing and Becca as examples. Moreover, she stated that the two musicians are more irrelevant than before. This is after they left their respective record labels to join Zylofon Media.

Also, Afia Schwarzenegger went on to say that Zylofon Media is all about hype. Therefore, the promise by CEO of Zylofon Media, Nana Appiah Mensah to give Kumi Guitar a house never saw the light of day.

According to Jamal, his artiste was over qualified to be in the Artiste of the Year category.

“We were all expecting that Fancy Gadam will be nominated in the Artiste of the Year category because he worked hard in the year under review and had it all going well for him so we are wondering why he was not nominated in that category,” he said.

He however believes that his artiste was not nominated because he is Tamale based. “If Accra was Tamale and Tamale was Accra, he would have had an upper hand, he would have been comparable to none,” he noted.

He also added that Fancy Gadam not being nominated for the artiste of the year is not the only thing that shocks them. (Video) Zylofon FM Throws Out A Panelist From Live Studio Discussion

The heat at Zylofon FM is getting hotter and hotter. It seems they’re not going to stop trending for the wrongs reasons for a while.

The new and latest brouhaha from the Zylofon Media outlet happened live. And from all indications, it seems the media outlet cannot stand criticisms considering what has just happened in their studios.

Head of the Zylofon Arts Club, Willi Roi has banned Ghanaian poet and critic, Kwame Agyemang Berko from the studios of Zylofon FM. This follows a heated argument on the role the A&R Manager at Zylofon media, Bulldog played which has resulted in the current conflict between the outlet and Stonebwoy.

Kwame Agyemang Berko did not mince words when he told them his candid view that Bulldog erred when he stormed the Paloma Hotel Premises to retrieve Stonebwoy’s car. According to him, all the current chaos could have been avoided if the right procedures and rule of law had been followed.

Tensions have been growing since the clash between Zylofon Media and Stonebwoy at Champs in Paloma Hotel over the weekend.

Many have even predicted a possible termination of contract between both parties since the incident though both parties have refused to confirm or deny this assertion.

But addressing the issues on Sammy Flex’s “Showbiz Agenda” program, Mr. Berko could not help but to put the blame on Bulldog.

For him, Bulldog should take responsibility for the clash between the two teams which led to some gunshots being fired.

Now, Willi Roi got angry over the candid view of Kwame Agyemang Berko live on the show.

Mr. Roi, unable to stand the harsh truth described the statement as baseless. Before we knew it, a security man had been called into the studio attempting to drive Mr. Berko out of the studio.

“How can you compare this media firm to Stonebwoy and say this place is pale. Next time you bring this guy here, I’m actually going to deal with you Sammy Flex.

If this place is pale, then what are you doing here. Don’t you give him allowance when he comes here, don’t we give him money? Security get this guy out of here. He’s not supposed to be here. In fact, he should never come back here.” Mr. Roi lashed out.

Ghana Is Fastest Growing Economy In The World

Ghana has a bright future ahead.

According to a report by the IMF, World Bank and the African Development Bank Ghana has the fastest growing economy in the world. Furthermore, this is due to the various natural resources that have been discovered.

Also, according to the report, our peaceful country is another reason behind the growing economy.

The New York Times published the report

As recently as the 1980s, the West African nation of Ghana was in crisis. A nation crippled by hunger after a series of military coups. But it has held peaceful elections since 1992, and its economic outlook turned considerably brighter about a decade ago, with the discovery of major offshore oil deposits.

Now, as oil prices rise again and the country’s oil production rapidly expands, Ghana is on track to make a remarkable claim for a country mired in poverty not long ago. It is likely to have one of the world’s fastest-growing economies this year.

Its projected growth in 2018, between 8.3 and 8.9 percent, might outpace even India, with its booming tech sector. Also, Ethiopia, which over the last decade has been one of Africa’s fastest-growing economies thanks to expanding agricultural production and coffee exports.

In January, Ghana’s benchmark stock index achieved the world’s highest rate of growth, 19 percent, according to Bloomberg.

And oil is not the only resource helping to drive Ghana’s economy. Cocoa is Ghana’s other natural bounty, and producers are piggybacking on the oil boom.

Ghanaians have jeered at Zylofon Media signed artiste, Kumi Guitar for dissing dancehall icon Stonebwoy in latest track.

Kumi Guitar has not been spared on social media after he released his track dubbed ‘Gyae’

After releasing the song, Kumi Guitar took to social media to wish fans a happy new week. Little did he know his post was going to earn him lots of backlashes an the the fury of a section of the public.

His release follows the recent misunderstanding between Stonebwoy and Zylofon Media.

Earlier, He had granted an interview on www.ghanaweb.com where he did not mince words at describing his record mate, Stonebwoy as ungratefu, selfish and greedy.

According to him, the current posture of Stonebwoy is a threat to the progress of Zylofon Media and to him as well. Adding that, Stonebwoy  was already Stonebwoy before the label signed him alright. Nevertheless, he cannot say Zylofon Media has not done anything for him since he was signed onto the music label.

“We have to learn to give back to people who are helping us. Stonebwoy can never say Zylofon media has done nothing for him.
